As the lockdown in India is extended further, Amazon wants its users to enjoy gaming content at home. Amazon Prime members in India can now get gaming benefits. The Prime members will also get access to a bundle of mobile gaming content. The games will also include free in-game content like exclusive collectible characters, upgrades, skins, power-ups, in-game currency and Prime-only tournaments across mobile games.

Amazon India already offers a lot of benefits to its Prime members. Amazon Prime membership offers benefits to its subscribers like Prime Video and Prime Music subscription along with priority treatment by the e-commerce aspect like free one-day delivery.

Now, the company has added another beneficial benefit of free mobile gaming content to the prime membership as a response to COVID-19. Prime members can claim content from internationally popular mobile games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and popular Indian games like World Cricket Championship. Amazon has also tied up with some mobile game developers to host Prime-only tournaments for its Prime members in the country.

Director and Head of Prime, Amazon India - Akshay Sahi, said in a statement,
"We recognize the need for in-game content by mobile gamers to enhance their playing experience and are delighted to provide access to this content free to Prime members. We will continue to add new in-game content for other popular games, with frequent content refreshes."

In the US, Amazon has been offering free mobile game content to Prime members since September last year. The company also has a Twitch Prime offering that brings additional benefits such as channel subscriptions and access to select video games for gamers involved in PC and console platforms.

Amazon India also plans to include content for Prime members from other popular games like Ludo King and more. Amazon has promised more games and content every month. To access the games Prime members can go to www.amazon.in/gaming. Once the game has been downloaded, the user will have to log in using their Amazon Prime account credentials to receive the benefits.

How to avail gaming benefits on Amazon Prime membership?

To avail the benefits, Amazon Prime members need to download the one of the listed games for Prime members on your Android or iOS device. Once downloaded, you will need to look for a banner showing off benefits for Amazon Prime members. By tapping that banner, hit the Login With Amazon button on the pop-up screen to log in using your Amazon Prime credentials.

You'll then be redirected to an Amazon page from where you need to allow access to your Amazon account. After that, your game will show you the Prime Member Reward. You just need to tap Claim! to claim that reward. Then you add the given benefits to your game.

A dedicated website has been created by Amazon to list all the gaming benefits for Prime members. It will showcase all the available and upcoming mobile game content there. You can also view all the free content you will get on your favourite mobile game through the Amazon app.

Limited Benefits initially

Initially, the list of games that will offer you benefits if you own an Amazon Prime subscription includes Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Words With Friends 2, Mafia City, and World Cricket Championship 2. You will also get in-game content for free upon signing in with your Amazon Prime account on mobile games such as the Black Desert Mobile and The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.

Amazon Prime members will get benefits such as a Stadium Unlock for World Cricket Championship 2. Also, 50 Gold and 10K Cash for Mafia City, an item chest and hero and skin trial cards from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and a Mystery Box from Words With Friends 2. The e-commerce giant is also set to bring in-game content from one of the most trending games such as Ludo King.

However, as of now, the list of games that have added free in-game content for Amazon Prime members includes a total of six games. It includes the Black Desert Mobile, Legends: Bang Bang, Mafia City, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Words With Friends 2, and World Cricket Championship 2.

Amazon has also promised to refresh the selection on a regular basis with new games and content every month. Regarding this Akshay Sahi stated,
“We will continue to add new in-game content for other popular games, with frequent content refreshes.”

Another addition for Prime members

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, as people are forced to stay home, Amazon Prime has added many latest additional benefits for the existing Prime members. These benefits include free, fast delivery of goods, access to movies and TV shows through Amazon Prime Video. Moreover, ad-free music via Amazon Prime Music and free ebooks to read through Prime Reading.

Reason behind offering the Benefits

Gaming has been one of the hottest segments of consumer internet lately. Gaming apps have topped new downloads on Android and iOS in 2020. Even subscription revenues are increasing due to millions of stay-at-home users looking for meaningful engagements to pass the time amid the lockdown.

The Amazon development comes shortly after Facebook launched a dedicated live gaming app, which had over five million downloads within a week. Earlier, Facebook had planned to launch the app in June but released it as a challenger to Amazon-owned Twitch and YouTube's gaming live streams.

Amazon hasn't revealed the total number of Prime members in India. Globally, there are over 150 million paid Prime members. The subscription-based service in India is available with two plans. One is Rs. 129 per month and second is Rs. 999 per year.

Apparently, the move by Amazon could give a tough fight to Flipkart that already has a dedicated gaming section with arcade games such as Snake Smash, Guess What, and Crazy Cannon.
