Who am I?

Born and brought up in Calcutta, I graduated in commerce and miserably failed at Chartered Accountancy. Economics was one subject I admired (Behavioral Economics in particular). I prepared for my entrance exams and got admission in Kerala to major in Economics. While in Kerala and my 2-month internship in Nagaland, I really admired the way they cared for the environment and ecosystem. Such a strong wave of emotions led us to found Green Crayon Packaging, where once I came back to my hometown, where we started to create and curate biodegradable and sustainable packaging. Talking about my interests and hobbies, I really like observing people (not judging😅) and get into the shoes of the other person.

How do I see Life? What is it to me?

I would like to cite a quote from The Fountainhead written by Ayn Rand.

“Every form has its own meaning. Every man creates his meaning and form and goal. Why is it so important—what others have done? Why does it become sacred by the mere fact of not being your own? Why are anyone and everyone right—so long as it’s not yourself? Why does the number of those others take the place of truth? Why is truth made a mere matter of arithmetic—and only of addition at that? Why is everything twisted out of all sense to fit everything else? There must be some reason. I don’t know. I’ve never known it. I’d like to understand.”

This is how my Typical day looks like...

A short prayer followed by reading a chapter from Devdutt Pattanaik's My Gita. We have a manufacturing startup which requires close supervision (as there stands no possibility for rectification). Every morning I visit our workshop and assign the tasks to our 'kaarigars'. Acquiring raw materials at noon and marketing in the evening. Later in the evening, we ( I & my Co-founder gopal) discuss how to enhance possibilities.

What do I want to make people aware of as a Community?

We as a community would really like to make people aware of the consequences of plastic pollution, climate change and global warming. We just want to make them aware that every single time they're tearing a packet of plastic, they're contributing to increased pollution. We also visit schools in rural areas and talk to students and teachers about these issues. Achieving operational efficiency is something which keeps us awake. We always try to strike a balance between our social activities and business. Just like a Venn Diagram where A=Social activities and B=Business. We strive for A intersection B.

My take on life experiences

Sweet and bitter truths are two sides of the same coin. You've got to embrace the uncertainties which follow at every single step. Initially, it was very daunting for us to accept and absorb the situations when there was a case of mistrust and people taking advantage of a startup. Even now this happens but at a way lesser extent. It's all about continuous learning. Right?

How can we make this world a better place for everyone?

Talking about the world, we believe our planet is doing fantastic. This is so true if one stops listening to TV news. The malnutrition, poverty, homicide, wars, even pollution is way-way below the level where it was 30 years back. This may challenge your perception of the ongoing progress in the world. The stats may wonder you on how brainwashed are we by the media content and surrounded by pessimist influencers. Or rather even we are becoming one who doesn't take an effort to educate ourselves before mindlessly complaining about the world.
