Anthropic launches Bengaluru Hub as India emerges as its No. 2 market

Bengaluru is now home to Anthropic's newest office. India is becoming an increasingly important player in the global AI competition, as the country has become the second-largest market for its AI assistant, Claude. According to the business, approximately half of Claude's usage in India is for mathematical and computer science projects, such as creating applications, updating systems, and deploying software to production.

This is Anthropic's second Asian base, following Tokyo, with the opening of the local office. According to Anthropic, their run-rate revenue in India has increased by 100% since October 2025. Enterprises, startups, and digital-native organisations all saw robust uptake, which is reflected in this surge. According to Irina Ghose, Managing Director of Anthropic India, India is a great chance to expand access to responsible AI for businesses and individuals. The country's digital infrastructure, record of large-scale technology adoption, and technical talent pool are major factors, she said.

Anthropic’s Business Plans in India

Partners in aviation, financial technology, information technology services, and startups were announced by Anthropic. As part of its larger initiative towards agentic AI, Air India is utilising Claude Code to expedite the development of custom applications. CRED used the technology to claim better test coverage and faster product delivery. With the goal of supporting enterprise AI adoption and modernising outdated systems, Cognisant is distributing Claude to 350,000 employees worldwide.

Claude has been integrated into risk systems and operational workflows at Razorpay, among other businesses. Emergent, an AI-powered software platform, achieved $25 million in recurring income within five months, created entirely with Claude, while Enterpret employs Claude across all of its engineering and product operations. Companies can rely on the India team's applied AI knowledge to assist in the development and scalability of Claude-based solutions that are specifically suited to their needs.

AI Expansion in India

In a recent donation to the Linux Foundation, Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) is now being implemented in India. A government MCP server has been launched by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation with the cooperation of Bharat Digital. This server would allow AI systems to query official statistics. With the help of MCP, Swiggy has integrated Claude with their grocery-ordering and dining-reservation systems.

As Anthropic expands its footprint in India, the Bengaluru office, headed by Ghose, will concentrate on recruiting for technical and enterprise positions. India is a critical market for global AI enterprises because of its developer capacity, enterprise demand, and public digital platforms. This makes it an attractive option for users, infrastructure, and talent. With Anthropic's new office opening, the race to seize that chance has heated up.
