On May 8th, 2020, Carry Minati (Ajey Nagar) uploaded a video on his official YouTube channel wherein he roasted TikTokers,  answered to the TikTok community, particularly to popular TikToker Amir Siddiqui. The roast video, which was essentially a roast of TikTok stars, managed to break many records on the YouTube India platform and quickly became the "most liked Indian YouTube video by an individual.” The roast video was deleted by YouTube with the reason behind taking it down not clear, yet.

Carry Minati’s roast video was taken down shortly after is was uploaded citing the reason, “violating YouTube’s terms of service". It has been assumed that the video was widely reported by the TikTok community. After this, Twitter users began commenting on the fact that Minati’s video was removed. In response to the deletion of Carry's roast video, many Carry Minati followers began giving TikTok poor ratings. This became such a popular and widespread act that it caused TikTok's rating to drop from 4.5 stars to 3.6 stars overnight. It is presently rated at 2 stars.

This huge fall in the Play Store rating is being attributed due to the number of 1 star ratings being given to the app. The rating dropped from 4.6 to 2.0 in last 2-3 days. The same trend is happening with the TikTok Lite App which has seen a huge decline i.e. falling from 4.5 rating to 1.3 rating within a span of 2-3 days. Some users are now demanding the ban of the Chinese app in India. The appeal is visible on several platforms like Twitter where hashtags such as "#BanTikTok" are the talk of the hour.
