📝Interviews
StartupTalky presents Recap'25, a series of exclusive interviews where we connect with founders and industry leaders to reflect on their journey in 2025 and discuss their vision for the future.
In this edition of Recap’25, StartupTalky speaks with Chirag Sehrawat, Founder of Counvo, a tech platform aiming to simplify access to legal services across India. Sehrawat shares how a personal experience of struggling to find timely legal guidance inspired him to create a platform that connects citizens directly with lawyers via chat and call, while maintaining transparency, flexibility, and independence for legal professionals.
The conversation highlights Counvo’s vision of making legal assistance accessible, inclusive, and trustworthy. Sehrawat discusses the platform’s approach to combining technology with empathy, the evolving legal-tech landscape in India, and how Counvo is adapting to meet the needs of both users and lawyers while exploring AI-driven efficiencies. He also reflects on the challenges of balancing user and lawyer expectations, early-stage growth strategies, and the roadmap for scaling legal access nationwide.
StartupTalky: What service does Counvo provide? What was the motivation/vision with which you started?
Chirag Sehrawat: Counvo is a tech platform being built to simplify access to legal services in India. It enables users to connect directly with lawyers via chat and call, supported by a secure payment mechanism.
The motivation behind Counvo came from a real-life incident where a family member struggled to find timely legal guidance after receiving a legal notice. This highlighted how dependent people are on personal contacts for legal help and how inaccessible structured legal support is for common citizens. Our vision is to make legal assistance accessible, transparent, and inclusive.
StartupTalky: What new services have been added in the past year? What is/are the USP/s of your service?
Chirag Sehrawat: As Counvo is in the pre-launch phase, the past year has been focused on product development and validation. The platform integrates direct lawyer–client communication, flexible pricing mutually decided by both parties, and payment facilitation—while maintaining lawyer independence.
Our key USP lies in combining accessibility, transparency, and equal opportunity for both common citizens and emerging legal professionals.
StartupTalky: How has the industry changed in recent years, and how has Counvo adapted?
Chirag Sehrawat: India’s legal industry is gradually embracing technology, but access to trustworthy and on-demand legal guidance remains limited. Counvo is adapting to this shift by building a digital-first platform that prioritizes simplicity, speed, and direct access—while respecting the traditional independence of legal practice.
StartupTalky: What key metrics do you track to check the Counvo's growth and performance?
Chirag Sehrawat: At this stage, we focus on qualitative metrics such as problem validation, platform readiness, user experience feedback, and lawyer onboarding interest, which help guide product decisions ahead of launch.
StartupTalky: What were the most significant challenges faced in the past year, and how did you overcome them?
Chirag Sehrawat: The primary challenge was understanding and balancing the needs of both users and lawyers in a highly sensitive domain like legal services. This was addressed through continuous research, conversations with legal professionals, and iterative refinement of the platform’s structure.
StartupTalky: What strategies do you use for marketing? Any growth hack?
Chirag Sehrawat: Currently, our focus is on organic outreach, early community building, and creating awareness around legal accessibility. Rather than growth hacks, we are prioritizing trust, clarity, and credibility—essential elements in the legal sector.
StartupTalky: What tools and software do you use to run your business smoothly?
Chirag Sehrawat: We rely on standard productivity, collaboration, and development tools to manage planning, communication, and product development efficiently during this early stage.
StartupTalky: What opportunities do you see for future growth in your industry in India and globally?
Chirag Sehrawat: There is significant opportunity in making legal services more accessible and user-friendly, especially in India where a large population lacks timely legal guidance. Globally, legal-tech adoption is growing faster, while India presents a unique opportunity to bridge awareness, affordability, and access at scale.
StartupTalky: How are you using AI, and what impact has it created?
Chirag Sehrawat: AI is currently being explored to improve internal processes, legal information structuring, and user experience. Our focus is on using AI responsibly to support efficiency and clarity without replacing professional legal judgment.
StartupTalky: How do you plan to expand customers, services, and team in the future?
Chirag Sehrawat: Post-launch, we plan to expand by onboarding more lawyers across practice areas, improving platform features based on user feedback, and gradually building a small, focused team aligned with our mission.
StartupTalky: One tip you would like to share with another service company founder?
Chirag Sehrawat: Solve a real problem you have personally experienced, and build with empathy for both sides of the marketplace. Trust and patience matter more than speed, especially in service-driven industries.
