Innovation Culture in India is Evolving Manufacturing Market

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, have directed its affiliate institutional establishments to initiate innovation clubs to materialize the ambitious plan of Make in India initiative with the primary goal of making India the hub of global manufacturing.

Ministry of Human Resource Development has established ‘MRHD’s Innovation Cell’ to work closely with the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to mold the creativity in the student population to transform the inspiration in young minds into an innovation that sells by creating favorable environment and thus, promoting entrepreneurial ventures.

MIC will focus on developing an environment which will nurture unorthodox thinking and its application across all educational institutions from prototyping new ideas to pre-incubation, incubation and graduating from the incubator as successful start-ups. A budget will be dedicated to various central as well state level educational institutions for the structuring and activities related of the clubs. Besides there will be frequent experiment with new technologies and mentoring by Industrial Professionals and interactions with renowned business leaders and excellent academicians.

AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabuddhe in a statement said:

Every educational institution must have an innovation club, where students and teachers can engage in activities. Also, it should be set up in a way that AICTE and MHRD can throw up challenges on the lines of Smart India Hackathon and bring out good talents.


Sahasrabuddhe has briefed about it during the launch of Innovation Cell and Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) in New Delhi by the Union Minister for HRD Shri Prakash Javedekar and Union Minister of State for HRD, Dr. Satya Pal Singh. ARIIA is an initiative by AICTE, along with Ministry of Human Resource Development, which also focuses on the promotion of the culture of innovation and research in higher education.


Shri Prakash Javadekar emphasized on the importance of the creation of innovation culture in India by setting up clubs in the premises of the Higher Educational Institutions. He also said that without innovation no country can achieve sustainable development and prosperity and 21st century is century of Innovation, and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, has called the decade 2010-2020 as the ‘Decade of Innovation’, to liberate every Indian by unleashing their creative potential.
