My Suggestions to OYO Rooms

Oyo is doing great. According to one of my friends who works at oyo, its hotel segment is profitable too. Well, Ilove to study startups and here are few things which I think can be done to build a better OYO!

One of the major problems I find is not much enagagement on social media even after having good number of likes and followers. I understand that Facebook organic reach has gone down but still a little targeted paid ads can give you a great result and viral content will make the page look good. You can try some of the ideas from ixigo.

Building relationship with customers

I feel there is a disconnect between OYO and its customers. For Hospitality industry word of mouth works like charm. OYO need to hear them, care and reward them. Community building has become utmost important for any brand now-a-days.

To enagage we can ask users to share their OYO story / travel stories. People love to read about others and also write about themselves. This can be conducted in form of weekly competition where users will be rewarded for the best story.

Campaigns targeting home

People book oyo when they are not at home and to tell users that OYO provides home like feeling we can run different capaigns.

Say for a tagline "Home when not at home" we can launch campaigns at a different tourist place with hot air balloon. For cities near sea like mumbai we can have a floating home telling something like "missing home? Welcome to OYO!" can be thought more to make it like guerilla marketing.

Love, not sex

Major reason one of your major competiror in couple category is able to build a good brand because they always preach they help people make love not sex, which sounds noble and they associate it with fantasy. You can create a similar blog post. Your blogs don't speak much in this regard which means boy + girl + hotel = sex + judgment.

I hope you must have tried and done that.

SEO

Online SEO of OYO is great for terms like hotels in {city name} but we need to take care when the terms are tweaked. Say for keywords like "the budget hotel in Kolkata" or "hotel near Hyderabad airport". Search queries data in analytics can tell a lot of things.

Affilaites

last but not least, I consider affiliates to be the best way to market for free and get leads while you still making money per transaction. Oyo pays a good commision to its affiliate. Why not motivate bloggers to promote it heavily with bloggers meetups?
