Adani Group Plans Massive $15 Billion Expansion Across India’s Airports by 2030
According to Bloomberg News, the Adani Group is getting ready to expand its airport business significantly. By 2030, it plans to invest $15 billion to increase the capacity of its network for handling passengers. Over the next five years, the company wants to grow its airports to accommodate 200 million passengers annually, according to the study. The group's broader objective of listing its airport unit is in line with India's quickly expanding aviation market.
The Expansion Plan
Plans for the development of the future Navi Mumbai Airport, which is scheduled to open on December 25, include bigger runways, more taxiways, and additional terminals. Major airports like Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram are all undergoing upgrades in addition to Navi Mumbai.
According to sources quoted by Bloomberg, approximately 70% of the funding will be obtained over a five-year period through debt, with the remaining portion coming from equity. In order to meet India's growing demand for both domestic and international travel, the expansion strategy has been adopted. According to the Bloomberg research, the number of passengers in the country is expected to more than quadruple to 300 million per year by 2030. Adani intends to strengthen its position as a competitive player in the aviation industry by getting ready to manage two-thirds of the anticipated volume.
What is FSTC and Why it can be a Game-Changer?
Additionally, the airport expansion is in line with changes in Adani's overall aviation strategy. The firm announced in a press release on November 27, 2025, that agreements to purchase FSTC had been reached by Prime Aero Services LLP and Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADTSL).
With an enterprise value of INR 820 crore, this is the largest independent provider of aviation training and simulation in India. In Hyderabad and Gurugram, FSTC runs training aircraft, sizable simulation centres, and state-of-the-art full-flight simulators.
The company is in charge of training pilots for both defence and commercial aircraft. As India gets ready to welcome more than 1,500 new aircraft in the next few years, it also presents a substantial opportunity for expansion. The most recent acquisition is a significant step in strengthening the company's long-term aviation strategy, according to Adani Defence CEO Ashish Rajvanshi. According to him, as stated in the press release, the agreement will assist the business in "building an integrated aviation service spanning civil MRO, general aviation, defence MRO and full-stack pilot training." Adani Airport Holdings is anticipated to play a significant role in India's ongoing efforts to build 400 airports by 2047.
