Bengaluru Airport to Davangere: KSRTC Introduces New Direct Flybus Route
The first direct connection between Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and central Karnataka was established by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) with the commencement of a new Fly Bus service between KIA and Davanagere. The new route travels through Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, and Dabaspet via the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), avoiding city traffic.
A passenger survey that emphasised the need for better airport connectivity to central Karnataka preceded the launch. It is anticipated that travellers from Tumakuru and Chitradurga will also benefit from the service. The service was inaugurated on 12 November at KIA's Terminal 2 by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy. Two buses have been put into service on the route thus far. It takes about five hours to travel from KIA to Davanagere, and the costs are INR 1,250 to Davanagere, INR 980 to Chitradurga, and INR 400 to Tumakuru.
History of Fybus Services
In August 2013, KSRTC began running Flybus services, initially from KIA to Mysuru. The service eventually extended to places like Madikeri, Kundapura, and Mangaluru. At the moment, the company transports over 1,000 passengers on 44 trips per day over 13 routes.
According to KSRTC, customers who purchase Flybus tickets will also receive a free Nandini snack pack, which includes a water bottle, flavour-infused milk, biscuits, cake, and kodubale. India’s Air Passenger Traffic Soars to 202 Million in H1 FY2025
According to data released on Wednesday, India's total air passenger traffic increased 2.6% year over year to 202 million in H1FY26 from 197 million the previous year. According to research by ratings service CareEdge Ratings, India's domestic traffic increased 1.6%, while its overseas traffic increased 6.9%. According to the report, India's passenger traffic is expected to increase from its initial forecast of 445 million passengers to 430 million in FY26.
It stated that a rise in profit before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (PBILDT) with an overall year-over-year growth of more than 40% for 11 airports is anticipated in the event of strong operational income. It predicted that domestic passenger traffic would rise by 3.5% over the course of the fiscal year, while international traffic would rise by roughly 8%.
The holiday season and the opening of two new greenfield airports in the second half of FY26 were expected to help ease supply constraints and increase traffic. The downward revision of growth, according to Palak Vyas, Associate Director, CareEdge Ratings, was caused by a delay in the arrival of wide-bodied aircraft, lesser aircraft availability as a result of fleet-wide inspections after the deadly aircraft accident in June 2025, and cross-border tensions in Q1 FY26.
