Lodha to Invest INR 1 Trn in Maharashtra Data Centre Park After MoU with State Govt
In addition to its previous investment promise of INR 30,000 crore, Mumbai-based Lodha Developers has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government. As per the MoU, the group will invest INR 1 trillion in the construction of a 2.5 gigawatt (GW) data centre park in the state.
The data centre is expected to be the biggest in India once it is finished. At the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, Abhishek Lodha, managing director and CEO of Lodha Developers, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The government's Green Integrated Data Centre Park strategy will guide the development of the data centre. More than 16,000 direct and indirect jobs are anticipated as a result of the development. How this will change the infra dynamics of the state let’s explore.
The Park will Allure International Players
The park will host a number of significant domestic and foreign companies. Amazon has already arranged for its electricity needs for the next 15 years and purchased a piece of land for its data centre. A piece of property in the park has also been purchased by STT Global Data Centres, a Singaporean company. According to the corporation, Lodha will serve as a developer for a number of parties interested in establishing data centres.
In addition to the INR 30,000 crore pledge made last year to build the data centre park, Lodha stated that the group has inked a new contract with the Maharashtra government. The group will contribute an extra INR 1 trillion as part of this deal. Lodha went on to say that under the direction of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state had already reached unprecedented heights. "We have great confidence in making such a significant investment because of CM's vision and efforts aimed at developing Maharashtra," Lodha added.
Maharashtra Govt. Backing Data Centres
The Maharashtra government designated integrated data centres as a priority sector for the state's industrial development back in 2019. It implemented a policy for green integrated data centre parks in 2024 to guarantee the prosperity of data centres. Data centres, which use a lot of electricity, will be powered by green and alternative energy sources under this program. Initially, the proposal will establish three parks in the metropolitan area of Mumbai.
According to Lodha, the Mumbai metropolitan area's Palava is home to a sizable land bank. The Lodha Group views this area as a potential location for a massive data centre. Two major international data centre companies entered Palava in 2024 and 2025, according to Lodha's investor presentation. The most recent land deal was completed at a cost of INR 21 crore per acre.
