New WhatsApp Update May Let Users Schedule Messages in Advance
Reportedly, WhatsApp is developing a feature called Scheduled Messages that would enable users to compose messages ahead of time and have them sent automatically at a predetermined time. This function is designed to ensure time-sensitive messages. The notifications such as birthday greetings, reminders, or updates will now reach the recipient at the precise moment users need them to.
Before a scheduled message is sent, users will also have the option to make edits or delete it. Located on Apple's TestFlight program, the scheduling function was discovered in the most recent WhatsApp beta for the iOS 26.7.10.72 upgrade, as reported by WABetaInfo. This means the functionality will be available in public beta soon, allowing for a larger release after testing is over for iPhone users.
How Scheduling Messages will Work?
Based on the data presented in the report, it appears that scheduled messages will stay in the queue until the specified time and date come. Planned messages will be visible to users in a specific area of the chat information screen. This means that users can easily keep track of how many messages they have planned and may handle them whenever they want.
Users will have the ability to make edits or deletions to scheduled messages up until the time of sending. Recipients will not be notified of the cancellation because it occurs silently when erased. The next update should be compatible with both one-on-one and group chats. With this function, users can schedule in advance any time-sensitive communications, such as birthday greetings, work notifications, reminders, etc.
Recent Developments on WhatsApp
Newly added members of WhatsApp groups can now access up to 100 recent messages thanks to a feature called "Group Chat History", which was released not long ago. This tool is designed to help new group members understand the context of the current debate. Users of both Android and iOS will soon be able to access the functionality as it is being rolled out worldwide. WhatsApp recommends that users get the most recent version of the app in order to use it.
However, coming back to the scheduling feature, right now, the only way for iPhone users to schedule WhatsApp messages is to use a workaround, like Apple's Shortcuts app. While there are third-party automation apps that provide comparable features on Android. However, using them can be risky due to the higher rites they require or the unapproved connectors they use. All users might benefit from a more secure and hassle-free experience if WhatsApp had an integrated scheduling feature that might solve these issues. The parent company of WhatsApp, Meta, has not yet announced a public release date for this functionality.
