Shilpa Shetty’s Husband Raj Kundra Summoned in Gain Bitcoin Scam Over 285 Bitcoins Worth 150 Cr

Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty's husband, is in trouble again. He is now linked to a Ponzi scheme called “Gain Bitcoin.” The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing this case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Other names like Rajesh Satija, Amit Bhardwaj, and Mahendra Bhardwaj are tagged to the case. Reports (NDTV) say that the court has issued a summons to appear on January 19. Karan Kundra is accused of holding 285 Bitcoins worth INR 150 crore. So, how serious is the case? And what could happen to Karan and the persons involved? For all that, learn more.

Why Was Raj Kundra Summoned in the Bitcoin Scam?

ED says Raj Kundra has received 285 Bitcoins from Amit Bhardwaj (the main promoter and mastermind of the Gain Bitcoin scam), who is now deceased. These were given to Kundra in a project to set up a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. However, the project never really happened. And Kundra still has all 285 Bitcoins (worth INR 150 crore), which caused him the trouble.

What Did Raj Kundra Say in This Bitcoin Scam?

Raj Kundra argues that he was only a mediator (middleman) in the deal, and the Bitcoins are not his. However, ED doesn't believe him as his statements don't match the evidence. According to ED:

There is no proof that Karan Kundra is the mediator. And more importantly, he couldn't provide any official documents to prove that he was merely a middleman. For the record, the official agreement contradicts his claims. An official "Term Sheet" exists in the contract. The agreement was between Raj Kundra and Mahendra Bhardwaj (Amit’s father).

Interestingly, Kundra remembers the exact memory of the Bitcoins received. That:

  • There were exactly 285 Bitcoins.
  • They were given in five separate parts.
  • And they were received over a period of 7 years.

Hence, ED strongly believes that Karan Kundra is the real (beneficial) owner of the Bitcoins.

Ed Asked for Bitcoin Wallet Details...

Since 2018, the ED has been consistently asking Kundra to share the Bitcoin wallet addresses, but Kundra never provided them. Kundra said that his iPhone X was damaged and he lost access to his wallet. ED says that Kundra's explanation for not providing the details is not genuine and is deliberately giving excuses to destroy the evidence.

Final Thoughts...

Raj Kundra has been in legal trouble several times before, and 2026 calls another. All eyes on January 19 (court trial) to see what evidence Karan Kundra would provide. For more updates on the same, follow us.
