Swiggy expands EatRight initiative to over 50 cities, tapping growing demand for healthy food

On January 5, Swiggy announced the debut of EatRight, a new category that aims to provide health-conscious customers in over 50 cities with a unified selection of foods that are high in protein, low in calories, and free of added sugar. With Chandigarh, Guwahati, Ludhiana, and Bhubaneswar leading the way, Tier-2 cities in India saw a twofold increase in healthy food ordering year over year compared to metropolitan areas, according to the meal delivery platform's insights based on its orders.

Offerings of EatRight

More than 1.8 million dishes from more than 2 lakh eateries will be available on EatRight. According to Deepak Maloo, Vice President of Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives at Swiggy, EatRight allows Swiggy to offer food options that naturally incorporate healthier options into regular food ordering, eliminate decision fatigue through clear categorisation, and blend seamlessly into a user's regular ordering habits. According to a statement from Swiggy, its partner brands are also developing new SKUs in response to consumers' growing emphasis on eating healthily.

Swiggy’s QIP Bid

Swiggy just raised INR 10,000 crore through the Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of equity shares. With an issue price of INR 375.0 per equity share, which represents a 4.0% discount to the floor price of INR 390.5 per equity share, the issue was issued on December 9, 2025, and closed on December 12, 2025. The company intends to invest the revenues in the development and management of the rapid commerce fulfilment network, which includes warehouses and dark stores.

In order to increase the platform's visibility and brand awareness across all segments, it also intends to spend in cloud infrastructure and technology, followed by brand marketing and business promotion costs. The corporation intends to use general corporate reasons and unnamed acquisitions to finance inorganic growth. Established in 2014, Swiggy is a cutting-edge technological startup.

The company collaborated with over 2.6 lakh eateries in over 700 cities and had 6.5 lakh delivery partners as of the first half of the fiscal year 2026. In addition to food delivery, Instamart, the company's rapid commerce division, operates in 128 cities. In more than 20 categories, the organisation distributes groceries and other necessities.
