Zepto, a platform for quick commerce (qcom), has used slotted delivery in a few places. Instead of relying just on immediate delivery, the function enables customers to arrange their orders for a particular time window. It is presently undergoing pilot testing in a few places, such as Bengaluru and Delhi. Only BigBasket and Zepto are now offering clients the option to select between slotted and immediate deliveries in the q-commerce market. The two platforms' schedules, however, are very different. BigBasket gives customers the ability to schedule their purchases by allowing them to reserve one-hour delivery times up to six days in advance.

What is Zepto’s Slotted Delivery?

Zepto's scheduled delivery is only available on the same day. Customers can choose their chosen delivery window later that afternoon or evening if they place an order in the morning. Customers may, however, cancel their orders up to 30 minutes before the chosen delivery time if they have chosen a slotted delivery. The change was made a day after Blinkit, a QCOM platform, introduced a new function that allows users to add extra things at the last minute, even after placing an order. While the order is being packed, customers can add products to their cart. This removes the need for a second order, and Blinkit charges no additional delivery fees.

Rapidly Changing Dynamics of India’s Q-Comm

In order to determine consumer stickiness, QCOM platforms are notably always experimenting with new features, product categories, and offerings. For example, Zepto has started pilot testing two new products: Zepto Diagnostics, an in-app diagnostics service under its pharma category, and Super Mall, a new vertical for high-value and premium products. Additionally, Swiggy has revealed a "Maxxsaver" tool to expand consumers' basket sizes. Additionally, it introduced a brand-new Food on Train service that is presently offered at 122 Indian train stations.

Last month, weeks after concluding a $450 million investment round, the quick commerce platform Zepto has lowered the minimum order amount to INR 99 for free delivery and eliminated the handling fee and surge charge that are assessed to its customers for each order. The company is promoting "zero handling fee", "zero delivery fee (for orders over INR 99)", and "zero rain and surge charge" on its app under the banner of its "All new Zepto experience".
