StartupTalky presents Recap'25, a series of exclusive interviews where we connect with founders and industry leaders to reflect on their journey in 2025 and discuss their vision for the future.

In this edition of Recap’25, StartupTalky speaks with Neerja Kumar, Co-Founder and COO of Enalytix, who reflects on a year shaped by the rise of AI-powered video analytics and the shift to real-time operational intelligence. She shares insights on product innovation, customer success, evolving market needs in India and globally, and Enalytix’s vision for scalable, privacy-first AI solutions driving the future of automation.

StartupTalky: What service does your company provide? What was the motivation/vision with which you started?

Neerja Kumar: Enalytix provides an AI-powered video analytics platform that turns ordinary cameras into actionable intelligence. We help businesses across retail, QSR, hospitality, manufacturing, logistics, and smart cities improve efficiency, boost engagement, enhance safety, and maximize ROI. Our SaaS platform delivers real-time insights and alerts for operations, workforce management, customer experience, and safety—making it easy for teams to act on data, not just collect it.

The motivation behind starting Enalytix was to transform how businesses use video data, moving beyond passive surveillance to actionable intelligence. Across sectors, organizations record endless video but struggle to extract real insights. We’re here to change that—transforming raw footage into real-time action and impact. From safety and operations to customer experience and behaviour, we help businesses see what truly matters. Our vision has always been to build practical AI solutions that make everyday operations smarter, faster, and more reliable, while keeping accuracy, privacy, and real-world applicability at the core.

StartupTalky: What new features have been added in the past year? What is/are the USP/s of your SaaS?

Neerja Kumar: Over the past year, our company has introduced several new features, including automated pilferage detection, AI Video Scan for blacklisted-face and lost-child detection, enhanced customer-journey analytics for retail and café chains, improved video-proof systems for e-commerce order verification, and upgraded workforce tools such as advanced facial attendance and automated shift management. Our platform remains seamlessly compatible with existing CCTV infrastructure, powered by a highly accurate and privacy-focused AI engine. Unlike traditional video systems, our platform analyzes video live and provides immediate alerts. This enables businesses to act instantly, whether it’s managing crowd flow, monitoring safety, or optimizing operations. Our thin Edge AI architecture runs on-prem and requires no internet, making it a secure, reliable, and easy-to-deploy solution for businesses of all sizes.

StartupTalky: How has the industry you are in changed in recent years, and how has your company adapted to these changes?

Neerja Kumar: The video analytics industry has changed significantly with the evolution of AI models. Advances in computer vision now allow for higher accuracy, real-time insights, and intelligent automation. Businesses increasingly demand solutions that are cost-effective, easy to deploy, scalable, and capable of running securely on-premises. At Enalytix, we’ve adapted by leveraging advanced AI and Edge AI architectures, which allow our platform to run securely on-premises without internet, reduce costs, and maintain high accuracy while ensuring 100% data privacy.

StartupTalky: What key metrics do you track to check the company's growth and performance?

Neerja Kumar: We track a few core metrics that give us a clear picture of how the company is growing and how well our platform is performing. On the business side, revenue growth and ARR are the primary indicators of overall momentum. We also keep a close eye on customer acquisition and churn because they tell us how healthy our pipeline is and how well we’re retaining value.

On the product side, we focus heavily on platform usage data, including no. of live cameras deployed, hours of video analyzed, and the overall volume of data processed. These metrics help us understand how deeply we’re integrated into our customers’ daily operations. Customer success outcomes, such as SOP compliance improvements or reduction in pilferage, are equally important because they show whether our AI is delivering measurable ROI on the ground.

StartupTalky: What were the most significant challenges your company faced in the past year and how did you overcome them?

Neerja Kumar: One of the biggest challenges we faced this year was making sure our solutions stayed deeply relevant to the real and evolving pain points of the industry. Retail and QSR businesses move quickly, and it is easy for AI to become a checkbox feature rather than something that truly solves problems. To avoid that, we spent a lot of time working closely with clients, understanding their day-to-day operational gaps, loss points, and workflow bottlenecks.

Another challenge was ensuring that our platform stayed holistic rather than fragmented. Instead of offering standalone AI capabilities, we focused on bringing everything together, such as pilferage detection, SOP compliance, customer experience, and safety, into one system that matches how businesses operate. By co-creating with clients and integrating our solutions into their existing workflows, we made sure the platform remained meaningful and easy to adopt. This collaborative approach helped improve trust, increase usage, and ensure that AI delivers outcomes that matter the most to our clients.

StartupTalky: Customer Success has become more important than ever. How do you keep your customers engaged to stop churn?

Neerja Kumar: We keep our customers engaged by making sure our platform becomes an integral part of their daily operations. The goal is not just to give insights but to solve real on-ground problems in a way that teams can feel the impact. Our dashboards, alerts, and analytics are designed to show value instantly, whether it is reducing pilferage, improving SOP compliance, or managing staff productivity.

A big part of retention comes from how closely we support our clients. We are the only Video Analytics solution provider offering robust helpdesk support and regular post-live connects to resolve any queries or challenges promptly. We also provide evidence-backed data for every insight, which builds trust and encourages teams to use the platform at ground level.

On top of that, we continuously improve the product. New features such as AI Video Scan, advanced retail analytics, and enhanced video-proof tools help clients stay ahead, and this ongoing innovation strengthens loyalty and keeps churn low.

StartupTalky: What are the different strategies you use for marketing? Tell us about any growth hack that you pulled off.

Neerja Kumar: We follow a very practical mix of marketing strategies that help us reach the right customers without overcomplicating things. A lot of our effort goes into targeted digital campaigns, SEO, strong case studies, and PR. On the PR front, we’ve secured meaningful features in YourStory, Financial Express, and other leading platforms, which has helped build strong credibility. We also stay active at industry events and webinars because that’s where decision-makers see our AI in action. Alongside this, we do direct outreach and build partnerships across retail, logistics, and enterprises to show how our solutions solve real day-to-day business challenges.

StartupTalky: Content marketing and Community building is something everyone is talking about in SaaS, How do you plan to leverage that?

Neerja Kumar: Our approach to content marketing is very focused. Instead of creating broad or overly technical content, we want to simplify AI for retail, QSR, and café operations. This means sharing actionable insights like common SOP gaps, operational benchmarks, video-proof case studies, and short explainers that show how AI improves accuracy, savings, and staff productivity. The goal is to help teams understand exactly how AI works on the ground, not in theory.

On the community side, we want to bring together the people who actually run operations every day, such as area managers, ops heads, and QSR leaders. We plan to do this through targeted webinars, practical playbooks, and small invite-only groups where teams can exchange real experiences, not just listen to high-level conversations. Over time, we want Enalytix to be seen not just as a product, but as a knowledge partner for modern retail and QSR brands.

StartupTalky: What are the important tools and software you use to run your business smoothly?

Neerja Kumar: We use a mix of home-grown and industry-standard tools to keep the business running efficiently. Our in-house ERP manages the entire deployment lifecycle, from pre-live planning to post-live monitoring. We also have a custom-built helpdesk tool that streamlines support and ensures customer issues are resolved quickly.

For internal collaboration, we rely on Microsoft Teams. Our data analytics work is supported by tools like Power BI. On the DevOps side, we use AWS for hosting and scaling, and tools like Jira, GitHub, and GitLab for agile development and version control.

For marketing, we use Mailchimp, Google Analytics, and Semrush. Our design work happens on Figma and Canva, which helps us maintain consistency and speed.

StartupTalky: What opportunities do you see for future growth in your industry in India and the world? What kind of difference in market behavior have you seen between India and the world?

Neerja Kumar: There is enormous growth potential as both Indian and global markets move from passive CCTV setups to AI-driven operational intelligence. In India, the opportunity is driven by the rapid expansion of retail, QSR, cafés, and organised enterprises. Today, companies need timely SOP compliance monitoring, better loss prevention, and more automation. Brands also want to get more value out of their existing CCTV infrastructure, which makes AI solutions that can run on existing cameras very attractive.

Globally, especially in the US, Europe, and the Middle East, the focus is on deeper automation, labour optimisation, and high-accuracy AI for security and operations. These markets prioritise predictive insights, behaviour analytics, enterprise-grade integrations, and long-term ROI. They are also more willing to invest in full-stack AI video analytics platforms.

In terms of market behaviour, India is fast-moving and price-sensitive. Brands want quick deployments and visible impact while being cost-effective. Global clients prioritise accuracy, integrations, and long-term stability. These differences guide us to build modular solutions that work well for both fast-growing Indian brands and automation-intensive global enterprises.

StartupTalky: How do you plan to expand the Customers, product features, and team base in the future?

Neerja Kumar: We plan to expand our customer base by deepening our presence in retail, QSR, and café chains and by entering key international markets. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with multi-store brands that benefit the most from AI-based video analytics.

Our product roadmap focuses on leveraging the latest AI advancements to deliver greater operational efficiency, enhanced safety, and improved customer experiences. We plan to expand our solution portfolio with advanced intelligence, predictive alert systems, next-generation SOP compliance tools, and robust behavioral analytics modules.

To support this growth, we are expanding our teams across technology, customer success, and on-ground operations. We want to build a strong organisation that can deploy quickly, maintain high accuracy, and respond to client needs at scale.

StartupTalky: One tip that you would like to share with another SaaS founder?

Neerja Kumar: Focus on one problem first and solve it better than anyone else. Prove the ROI, build trust, and let that momentum carry you into your next use cases. SaaS grows when you stay sharp, consistent, and committed to solving real problems that genuinely matter.
