In a deal worth approximately INR 325 crore, Accenture leased over 6 lakh sq ft of office space in Pune for installing a global capability centre (GCC). The deal, so, represents one of the year's largest commercial real estate deals in the city. Space at Phoenix Millennium Towers is leased for a period of more than fifteen years. Highlighting Accenture's ongoing expansion in India, the facility will be home to a new global capability center.

The magnitude and duration of the deal indicate a substantial, long-term commitment to India's delivery and technological ecosystem. It is anticipated that Accenture will gradually move into the facility, with full operations likely to take place by June. Global activities, including innovation and technology development, will receive support from the new center.

Accenture Expanding its Footprints in India

Dedicated global capability centres are part of a larger plan by Accenture to increase their capacity in India. The original purpose of GCCs has expanded beyond administrative tasks and into the creation of high-value, knowledge-intensive projects. Enterprise technology and transformation programmes, cloud computing, data analytics, and artificial intelligence are all areas that these centres focus on.

Accenture's new facility is indicative of the growing importance of GCCs in global operations, which allows companies to streamline their innovation and delivery capabilities in critical markets. The fact that Accenture has decided to set up shop in Pune is evidence of the city's rising profile as a location for major technological investments. Leasing activity in the last several months suggests that international companies are choosing Pune as their long-term expansion hub, especially for activities driven by the GCC.

India Becoming Central Point for Multinational Companies

An industry-wide trend is mirrored by Accenture's investment. The demand for GCCs is a major factor in the record-breaking office space leasing activity among multinational corporations in India. India is no longer seen as only a cost-efficient delivery base but rather as a centre for core business operations and innovation, marking a fundamental shift in the way global corporations perceive the country.

Accenture's lease in Pune is part of a larger shift in global operating paradigms, emphasising the importance of capacity growth alongside size. Pune and other such cities are poised to become increasingly influential in global technology and innovation agendas as the number of multinational corporations establishing a presence in the GCC grows. Companies are continuing to invest in India's talent, infrastructure, and sophisticated skills, which shows their trust in the country's long-term potential.
