Adani Green Integrates TNFD Standards to Boost Sustainable, Nature-Positive Expansion
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) announced on 8 December that it has strengthened its transition to nature-positive renewable energy production by incorporating the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) guidelines into its core sustainability plan. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, the United Nations Development Programme, the World Wildlife Fund, and worldwide Canopy founded the TNFD framework, a worldwide, science-led project.
It gives companies a methodical framework for recognising, evaluating, controlling, and disclosing opportunities and hazards associated with nature. By adhering to the TNFD framework, AGEL enhances its position as a leading global renewable energy company that incorporates biodiversity considerations into strategic decision-making, supporting India's climate leadership as well as worldwide conservation priorities.
AGEL Focusing on ESG Compliance
According to a corporate release, this makes AGEL's goal of moving away from traditional Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance and towards a more integrated, nature-positive model of renewable energy growth even more likely. In order to identify nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities across all operational sites, AGEL started conducting company-wide evaluations in FY24.
The CEO of AGEL, Ashish Khanna, stated in the statement that the company's growth story revolves around nature. The company is finding ways to create resilient ecosystems in addition to renewable energy infrastructure by integrating the ideas of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures into our operations. Additionally, the India Business Biodiversity Initiative (IBBI and IBBI 2.0) has AGEL as a signatory. With a commitment to plant 27.86 million trees throughout project locations, AGEL has reaffirmed its long-term biodiversity aim of attaining No Net Loss of Biodiversity by 2030.

As evidence of the company's dedication to fostering sustainable growth, AGEL's operating portfolio is certified "water positive", "single-use plastic free", and "zero waste-to-landfill".
