Amazon’s Global Job Cuts May Affect Up to 700 Employees in India

The most recent round of layoffs at global technology giant Amazon will also affect its operations in India, where 500–700 workers are anticipated to be affected. Yet another round of reductions has been announced by Amazon. This time, the corporation plans to fire some 16,000 workers worldwide.

This comes after 14,000 workers were let go in October of last year. Teams at AWS (Amazon Web Services) and retail operations in India would also be affected. The company's failure to achieve the appropriate market output during the last two to three sales events may also be a contributing factor in the impact on India.

The impact on India was not discussed in an email issued to the Amazon India staff. The note from Beth Galetti, senior vice president of People Experience and Technology at Amazon, was released by the firm. According to the note, the cuts that Amazon is implementing today will affect about 16,000 positions throughout the company. Yet again, the brand is making a lot of effort to assist everyone whose role is affected. Galetti went on to say that the business does not plan to do this frequently.

"That's not Amazon's plan," Galetti said. However, each team will continue to assess ownership, pace, and capacity to innovate for customers, as the brand has always done, and make necessary modifications.
