Anthropic Rolls Out India Pricing for Claude AI, Pro Plan Begins at INR 2,000
Anthropic has announced India-specific pricing for its Claude AI helper. The Claude Pro plan starts at INR 2,399 per month and INR 2,000 per month with an annual subscription. The change enables Indian users to make payments in rupee rather than dollar.
The Claude AI assistant from Anthropic has begun to feature prices tailored to the Indian market. This means that subscribers can now pay with rupees rather than dollars. This change is anticipated to enhance the chatbot's accessibility for users in India. In addition, the move is indicative of the company's continued emphasis on the region it now ranks as its second-biggest market, after only the US.
Pricing for Claude's paid plans on mobile apps and the web is starting to reflect local rates for users in India. That way, international transactions will be less complicated, and dollar-denominated payments will no longer be necessary. This localisation is part of a larger trend of global AI businesses rushing to establish a foothold in India's rapidly expanding generative AI sector.
Claude Pricing India
The updated price for Claude Pro is INR 2,399/month if paid monthly or INR 2,000/month if paid annually. Two Claude Max tiers, available from Anthropic for INR 11,999 and INR 23,999 monthly, provide far larger usage limits for power users, academics, and developers. On an annual paying cycle, the Claude Team plan costs INR 2,399 per user per month for businesses. On the other hand, each user pays INR11,999/month for the Premium Team tier.
Prices already include GST. The increasing significance of India to Anthropic is highlighted by the price change. The corporation claims that, behind the United States, India is now its second-largest market worldwide. Claude has 5.8% of its global users from India. The quick rate of artificial intelligence adoption in India was highlighted earlier this year by CEO Dario Amodei, who stated that Anthropic's revenue run rate in the country has doubled in just four months.
Anthropic Expanding its Footprints in India
The reach of Anthropic in India has been growing over the past few years. The business shifted its attention to developers and corporations after opening its first office in Bengaluru in February. To further facilitate the use of Claude by companies developing AI-driven goods and services, the company has also teamed up with financial provider Razorpay. Competition in the market for AI assistants is heating up, prompting the most recent step.
With the launch of new products, collaborations, and enterprise offerings, OpenAI, Microsoft, Perplexity, and Google have all increased their presence in the Indian market. One of the main obstacles to paying for a subscription has been removed by Anthropic with the introduction of local currency pricing. In addition, it is showing that India is playing a pivotal role in its plan for future growth. Even if the price is now in INR, users can't pay for their Claude membership online using UPI. Card or app store billing choices are the only accepted payment methods for Indian consumers. In India, users may still use the free Claude tier to access the most basic AI services, like online search and file uploads.
