When it came to monthly mobile customer additions in the Haryana telecom circle for July 2026, state-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) beat private competitors Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which is in charge of telecommunications in India, has just published subscription data showing that BSNL gained 68,560 net wireless users in Haryana during the month. More over half of the state's net mobile user acquisitions were secured by the state-owned operator.

Jio Dominating the Overall Indian Market

Haryana's net mobile subscriber growth for July was 51.22%, captured by BSNL. During the reporting period, 133,848 new mobile users were added across all operators in the state. With 37,508 new customers in Haryana, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited became the biggest telecom provider in India. With 25,139 net mobile user gains in the circle, Bharti Airtel Limited recorded the second-best results. Fourth place went to Vodafone Idea Limited, which gained 2,641 new mobile customers. The increase in Haryana is indicative of the rising demand for mobile services provided by the state.

Following a June 2026 gain of 94,006 wireless users, BSNL added 168,874 subscribers nationwide in July 2026. The number of mobile users in India reached 1.28 billion in July, as the total number of wireless subscribers increased by 5.53 million. With the addition of 2.69 million mobile subscribers, Airtel's total user base now stands at 489.48 million. Expanding its customer base to 506.03 million, Jio added 2.45 million mobile connections. With the addition of 240,114 customers, Vodafone Idea's total base reached 199.06 million. Collectively, private companies control 92.75% of India's mobile phone market. Seven and a half per cent comes from BSNL and MTNL.

Dynamics Behind BSNL’s Haryana’s Growth

In many rural areas, BSNL's affordable prepaid recharge pricing continues to be a major selling point. In order to keep their secondary SIM cards operational, many price-conscious users in tier-2 and rural markets opt for cheaper voice and basic data packages. Upgrading the network also helps with the increase in subscribers.

Thanks to equipment supplied by the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and local partners, BSNL is able to run about 100,000 4G sites across India. Approximately 23 million 4G customers utilise the network every day, and the company estimates that this data volume is around six petabytes.

Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, the Northeast, and Uttar Pradesh West were among the other circles in which BSNL recorded positive growth. Nonetheless, the operator saw a decrease in subscribers in some service areas, such as Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and West Bengal.
