Byju Raveendran Offers Aakash Shares To Settle Qatar Holding's $235 Million Claim
BYJU'S founder Byju Raveendran has proposed relinquishing his claimed beneficial interest in 17.89 million shares of Aakash Educational Services to settle Qatar Holding's arbitration claim of more than $235 million against him. The shares, representing about 5.7% of Aakash's equity, are held through Singapore-based Beeaar Investco and were acquired using $150 million in financing Qatar Holding extended to Raveendran's investment vehicle in 2022.
Qatar Holding said it would continue pursuing repayment and enforcement of its arbitral awards regardless of the proposed transfer. A Singapore tribunal had already directed Raveendran and BIPL to pay more than $235 million in July 2025, and Qatar Holding has since sought a Karnataka High Court order to seize assets and appoint a receiver, with the matter next due for hearing on 21 September.
