A statement from the Telangana government stated that DoorDash has established a new global capabilities centre (GCC) in Hyderabad and intends to generate 3,000 employment opportunities in India within the next two years. With this change, the American food delivery service's reach in India has grown substantially.

It also shows how attractive the country is becoming as a location for global capabilities centres. Initially, the Hyderabad site will assist with customer service and business operations. It will also serve as a talent hub for the organisation in the long run. The government of Telangana has said that the newly opened centre will first house teams concentrating on operational responsibilities, general administration, and customer service.

DoorDash Expanding its Network in India

The Hyderabad location will join DoorDash's other two global customer care operations hubs, according to Reuters. Consequently, it will join the centres already established in Mexico City and Tempe, Arizona. As operations expand over the next two years, the company plans to hire more people, with 500 being added in the first phase.

With the opening of its facility in Hyderabad, DoorDash now has two technical offices in India; the first is in Pune. According to Reuters, the software, data, and analytics operations are already run by the company in Pune. These capabilities were gained in 2021 when the company bought the robotics startup Chowbotics. India is becoming an increasingly important hub for DoorDash's global business and technological operations, as shown by their latest investment.

As more and more international corporations set up offshore technology and operations centres, the GCC industry in India has been experiencing consistent expansion, which DoorDash has taken advantage of. A number of major corporations have just set up shop in Hyderabad, and DoorDash is the latest to join their ranks. Other recent additions include Costco, McDonald's, Charles Schwab, Marriott, and Southwest Airlines.

India Emerging a Major GCC Hub

On a global scale, India's market is still the biggest GCC market. Reuters cites a 2026 report by Nasscom-Zinnov that states the country hosts around 2,100 GCCs. As a result, they brought in about $100 billion and employed about 2.36 million people. The crucial role that India today plays in supporting global company operations, technology development, and customer engagement services is underscored by the ongoing influx of multinational investments. The Hyderabad centre strengthens DoorDash's long-term international operation strategy and gives access to one of the world's biggest talent pools.

The investment gives the GCC sector, which is growing in size and strategic importance, even more impetus, which is good news for India. With the help of its delivery network of over 8 million people, DoorDash processes over 3 billion orders annually and operates in over 40 countries. With over $100 billion in Marketplace Gross Order Value (GOV) in 2025 and over 65% of its home country's market, DoorDash is the largest US delivery platform and one of the world's top three.
