To bolster its IT service management platform, Freshservice, Freshworks, a SaaS giant listed on the Nasdaq, has strengthened its acquisition of Robusta Dev, an AI firm based in Israel, for an amount that has not been disclosed. With the addition of AI-powered skills, the acquisition will be able to examine technology outages, determine their causes, and suggest solutions.

Along with enhancing their compatibility with incident response systems like FireHydrant, Freshworks intends to incorporate these features into Freshservice. To identify the root cause of an outage, Robusta—co-founded by Natan Yellin and Arik Alon—uses AI agents to sift through monitoring data, IT infrastructure information, and recent code or configuration changes. Additionally, it detects the impact of disturbances on linked services and suggests ways to fix them.

Freshworks to Reap Benefits with this Acquisition

Freshworks states that engineering teams can resolve incidents faster with the help of Robusta's technology, which reduces human investigations and consolidates notifications. Changes to production systems can only be performed after engineers have reviewed and approved the proposed actions. Since there are so many raw events in big industrial contexts, it would be prohibitively expensive to investigate each one individually, according to Robusta founder Yellin, whose technology enables AI agents to do jobs efficiently.

Additionally, he mentioned that the organisation is overjoyed to be a part of Freshworks. Robusta now has the resources and infrastructure to offer that expertise to engineering teams worldwide, thanks to this acquisition. Yellin did point out that this was done while humans were still very much in charge of decisions that had an impact on productivity. According to Freshworks, the connection will link workflows for incident diagnosis, response, and prevention. So, assisting companies in making use of data from previous outages to lessen the frequency of such interruptions.

Through this acquisition, Freshworks will be able to provide more AI-powered service operations to businesses. These services assist with the automation of IT workflows and the management of technology crises. Freshworks provides cloud-based software for managing IT services, engaging customers, and closing deals. Girish Mathrubootham and Shanmugam Krishnasamy founded the company in 2010.

Recent Developments at Freshworks

Despite a 16% year-over-year increase in revenue to $228.6 Mn, Freshworks recorded a net loss of $4.8 Mn for Q1 2026. In addition, it said that it will be laying off about 500 workers, or about 11% of its staff. Its goal was to automate mundane tasks and boost AI's usage in product development; therefore, it took this step. The acquisition of Robusta comes after earlier this month's announcement of Freshworks' intent to buy Torii.

Businesses can monitor software use and control AI budgets with the help of the SaaS management platform. The demember of last year saw the acquisition of incident management firm FireHydrant by the same corporation, based in the US. Robusta complements FireHydrant's software outage coordination capabilities with AI-powered root-cause investigation and recommendations for remediation.
