In order to establish a 200 MW (AC) solar power plant at the GIPCL Renewable Energy Park in Khavda, Gujarat, KPI Green Energy said on 17 November that it has signed contract agreements with state-owned SJVN Ltd for an order for INR 696.50 crore.

According to a corporate release, this milestone marks a significant step forward for KPI Green's growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects. As per the release, KPI Green Energy Ltd and SJVN Ltd, a Government of India firm, have inked contract agreements for the construction of a 200 MW (AC) solar power project at the GIPCL Renewable Energy Park in Khavda, Gujarat.

The New Contract Solidifies KPI Green’s Position

The deal, which is worth INR 696.50 crore (GST excluded), strengthens KPI Green's standing as a reliable and trustworthy EPC partner for major renewable projects, the company said. In compliance with approved specifications and quality assurance plans, KPI Green will provide all plant and equipment needed for the 200 MW (AC) solar project within the terms of the negotiated agreements. In addition, it is in charge of all civil, architectural, and structural work at the project site, including erection, installation, and building.

The unloading, handling, storage, and insurance coverage of the plant and equipment provided under the contracts will also be covered. In accordance with the terms of the contract, the business will also carry out testing, commissioning, performance demonstration, and operational acceptance.

KPI to Provide 3 Years of O&M After the Project is Completed

KPI Green is further charged with the complete Operation & Maintenance (O&M) responsibilities for the project for a period of three years following the Commercial Operation Date (COD), encompassing O&M spares and consumables. Three distinct contracts—the Supply Contract, EPC Contract, and O&M Contract—are being used to carry out the project, and taken together, they provide KPI Green a significant turnkey responsibility for the building and early operating stages.

The firm's chairman and managing director, Faruk G. Patel, said in a statement that KPI Green's credibility and shown capacity to deliver large-scale renewable energy projects are further reinforced by the company's acquisition and formal signing of this deal with a prominent Government of India corporation.

In addition to hydropower, SJVN Limited, a joint venture between the governments of India and Himachal Pradesh, has expanded into solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects throughout the nation. KP Group was founded in 1994 by Faruk G. Patel and has since expanded into a diverse conglomerate with a focus on innovation, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
