HCLTech and Anthropic Join Forces to Build Dedicated AI Business Unit
HCLTech has teamed with Anthropic to set up a dedicated AI business unit and Center of Excellence to speed up enterprise adoption of agentic AI. Anthropic’s Claude and Claude Code will also be included in HCL Software products, such as HCL AppScan and HCL BigFix, and HCLTech’s AIForce platform.
HCLTech announced in a statement that it and Anthropic have entered into a worldwide collaboration agreement. The newly formed agreement will increase the use of agentic AI in business settings, particularly in the areas of security, governance, and cybersecurity.
A Center of Excellence (CoE) and an Anthropic Business Unit will be set up by HCLTech to develop AI solutions under the terms of the agreement. Also, the business will back Anthropic's Claude models as they roll them out to businesses. As an added bonus, this section will facilitate the adoption of AI-based engineering techniques by clients and offer safe testing settings.
Specifics of HCLTech and Anthropic’s Deal
As an ISV partner of Anthropic, HCL Software will include Claude and Claude Code into a few of their enterprise solutions, such as HCL AppScan and HCL BigFix. Cybersecurity, automation, business process apps, and app development will all be a part of the integration, according to the company. Claude and Claude Code will be integrated into HCLTech's AIForce platform for software engineering workflows. Digital employee services, code cleanup, and IT support are all parts of these workflows. Policy guardrails, exception handling, and human oversight will be utilised by these apps for modifications with substantial impact.
The president and co-founder of Anthropic, Daniela Amodei, stated that AI is only beneficial if people trust it. With Claude, Anthropic hopes to instill faith in AI so that companies may integrate it into their most valuable and delicate projects. According to C. Vijayakumar, CEO and MD of HCLTech, the collaboration would improve the firm's capacity to implement agentic AI on a large scale. He elaborated by saying that HCLTech is better able to do the same thanks to its collaboration with Anthropic.
Anthropic Introduces Stricter AI Rules
On October 8th, Anthropic revised their usage policy to include new restrictions on spying, weapon software, and electoral meddling. The most striking modification, though, is the outright ban on verbal abuse of the model for extended periods of time. As of an August upgrade, Claude is now taught to terminate chats when users engage in aggressive or otherwise detrimental behaviour.
The new policy, however, makes it clear that users may no longer pursue such discussions. As Athropic points out, the policy change is only supposed to be used in the most severe of circumstances, when users are being extremely cruel to its models for no apparent reason. Common forms of user annoyance, resistance, dark artistic themes, and study and testing of models are not included. This shift occurs after Anthropic has reached out to renowned religious professors in an effort to convince them that Claude may be conscious or perhaps have a soul.
