The Mohali Development Centre (DC) of IT giant Infosys has been enlarged with the opening of a new 350,000-square-foot integrated development campus, as announced on 12 March. According to the company's statement, the new facility can accommodate around 3,000 employees.

A number of dignitaries, including Sanjeev Arora, the Punjab Cabinet Minister for Investment Promotion, Power and Local Government; Bhagwant Singh Mann; and Jayesh Sanghrajka, the Chief Financial Officer of Infosys, were present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility.

What Infosys’ New Block will Offer?

An integral aspect of the expansion is the new Software Development Block, which will allow Infosys to better provide solutions driven by artificial intelligence. Global clients in industries like finance, healthcare, and retail will be able to take advantage of block's cloud services and digital transformation offerings. Speaking to the audience, Mann said that Punjab's newfound prominence as a centre for technology and innovation is due in large part to Infosys' decision to expand its Mohali DC.

The youth of Punjab and the surrounding states would benefit greatly from this investment, which will strengthen the state's IT ecosystem and generate many job possibilities. With Infosys's ongoing support, the government of Punjab hopes to see inclusive, technology-led economic growth in the province. Nearly a thousand workers are currently employed by Infosys in Mohali.

Infosys’ New Block a Milestone for the Company

The expansion is a major step forward in Infosys's "AI-first" approach, according to CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka. He explained that by working together, Infosys can tap into the talent pool in the area, make its operations more agile, and provide our staff more options in how they work. Because it will generate new, high-quality jobs, the development will also help Punjab's economy grow.

Therefore, the technology ecosystem in the area will be much more robust. Smart building technologies, advanced radiant cooling and heating systems, and 100% wastewater recycling using membrane bioreactor technology would be the main features of the new campus that Infosys says will be focused on sustainability. More than 330,000 individuals around the world work for the digital services and consultancy company with headquarters in Bengaluru.
