Innodata Cuts Nearly 550 Indian Jobs Amid Changes in AI Operations
Innodata, AI services provider headquartered in the US, is said to have chopped approximately 550 jobs in India and the Philippines, the layoffs occurred on October 26. Affected personnel said they were abruptly locked out of business computers and then sent surprise emails of termination.
The United States-based artificial intelligence services provider Innodata reportedly let off around 500 Indian and Filipino employees without giving any advance notice. Multiple testimonies and postings on social media websites like X and Reddit indicate that the layoffs occurred on October 26. Workers said that they were able to log in and register attendance normally at the beginning of the workday.
However, later employees started experiencing problems with their corporate laptops, official IDs, and internal systems. There have been reports of concerned employees finding out that their resignation and last day of work were officially logged on the company's HR system as October 26. Their personal email accounts were subsequently notified of their termination by email.
Factors Driving Innodata’s Layoffs
Their job was terminated due to a decrease in business responsibilities, according to screenshots of the layoff emails that have gone popular on X. Additionally, the company said that operational needs, not individual performance, were the driving factors behind the decision. As a result of the abrupt layoffs, workers were frantic to find out where they stood in terms of employment. After employees return firm assets, final payouts will be made, according to the termination letters.
Even Innodata's employees in the Philippines seem to have felt the effects of the layoffs. Workers in a variety of positions, including quality specialists, managers, team leaders, and raters, all said they lost their jobs. Although no one has verified it, rumours on the internet have stated that falling service volumes from a big customer project are to blame for the layoffs. Neither the exact number of workers impacted nor an official justification for the claimed layoffs has been made public by Innodata in India or the Philippines.
