The Ministry of Tourism and MakeMyTrip, a website for booking travel, announced their partnership on August 14th. Thanks to this collaboration, tourists will be able to choose from 350 different guided tours in over 60 different cities. According to MakeMyTrip, the excursions will be available for booking on the platform beginning on Independence Day, and the repertoire will continue to grow.

Guides, local experts, and communities form the backbone of India's tourism value chain, according to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism & Culture. They can now communicate with tourists on a more personal level and tell them about India thanks to this collaboration. On this Independence Day, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is urging all tourists to come back to India not just to see the sights but also to share stories about their experiences and the rich history of the country.

Core Element of MMT and MoT’s Tie-Up

Joining forces with "Incredible India" and "Dekho Apna Desh", the partnership seeks to motivate Indians to embark on journeys abroad. Additionally, according to a news release, it promotes the idea that tourists may fully immerse themselves in the country's rich history, spirituality, food, festivals, and landmarks by following in the footsteps of knowledgeable guides. Tours conducted by knowledgeable locals have long been a draw for vacationers. However, they've been notoriously difficult to arrange in advance, leaving many to rely on rumour, unreliable pricing, or last-minute additions to their already packed schedules.

According to Rajesh Magow, Executive Director & Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, India has an abundance of fascinating tales to tell. The missing piece is an easy way for travellers to find and book them, just like a hotel or ticket. The country's guides and local experts are at the heart of this partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, which aims to attract tourists toward these guided excursions. In addition to providing tourists with an authentic end-to-end journey, it also provides a wider platform to promote these experiences through selected and user-generated content.

MakeMyTrip Takes First Step Toward IPO

In preparation for its Indian subsidiary's first public offering, MakeMyTrip (MMT) stated on July 17 that it had secretly pre-filed a red herring prospectus with the stock market regulator. The biggest online travel agency in India, MMT, which is listed on the Nasdaq, is planning to float its shares on stock exchanges through the offer for sale route.

It is the company's hope that the planned listing will raise awareness of its brand. Additionally, it will bolster its capacity to attract and retain top individuals in the cutthroat technology industry, the company added.

According to the reports, investment firms Axis Capital, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were serving as consultants for the mammoth issuance, which was expected to include an offer for sale. The filing indicated that ibibo Group Holdings (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MakeMyTrip, and MMT India are likely to sell equity shares in the proposed initial public offering. When the planned initial public offering is finalised, MMT India will still be considered a subsidiary of MakeMyTrip and will be included in the consolidated financial statements of MakeMyTrip.
