On June 22, the top Indian automaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd announced plans to establish advanced manufacturing labs at five different Gujarati ITIs. In order to achieve this goal, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) announced in a statement that the business has inked an MoU with the Gujarat Government's Directorate of Employment and Training (DET). It went on to say that the ITIs in Palanpur, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Godhra, and Dahod will house the Advanced Manufacturing Labs (AMLs).

Maruti’s Initiative Creating Job Opportunities for Youngsters

The effort is in line with the Skill India mission of the Indian government and is carried out as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. In addition, by giving students practical experience with contemporary industrial processes, it hopes to increase their employability. Practical instruction in areas including assembly, welding, painting, machining, mechatronics, and safety will be offered by the AMLs, which will mimic real-world shop-floor settings.

Students will be able to acquire skills that are important to the manufacturing and automotive industries, according to the corporation, thanks to these labs. Rahul Bharti, senior executive officer for corporate affairs at Maruti Suzuki India, commented on the programme and reiterated the company's commitment to skill development.

With an emphasis on training for certain industries, Bharti said that the programme will help young people find work. According to Maruti Suzuki, the programme also helps with their expanding manufacturing presence in Gujarat. This year, the corporation plans to launch a fourth manufacturing line at its Hansalpur site. This will allow the factory to increase its yearly production capacity from 750,000 units to 1 million units. It is also establishing a new factory in Sanand with the ability to produce one million units per annum.

Gujarat Preferred Destination for Maruti

Sanand's project completion is anticipated to increase Gujarat's total annual production capacity to 2 million units, according to the business. Maruti Suzuki has set up 18 AMLs around India and is actively supporting 31 ITIs in manufacturing-related trades. There will be a total of 23 AMLs run by the corporation in seven different states and union territories after the five new laboratories in Gujarat are added.

As part of a joint effort between the Japanese and Indian governments to train workers for the manufacturing industry, the business runs four JIMs in the Indian states of Gujarat and Haryana. According to Stuti Charan, IAS, Director of DET, Government of Gujarat, Maruti Suzuki is helping to connect classroom learning with industry needs by establishing advanced manufacturing labs in Gujarat’s ITIs.
