Noida Airport Clears Final Flight Trial Milestone Ahead of Operations Launch Next Week
Prior to the scheduled opening of commercial operations on June 15, the Noida International Airport (NIA) successfully conducted a flight trial on 9 June. Using an IndiGo jet, the study evaluated the launch-support operation's coordination of several components. The airport administration said in a press statement that on June 9, the NIA successfully completed a full-scale trial of aircraft turnaround procedures.
This demonstration was a component of the airport's Operational Readiness, Activation, and Transition (ORAT) programme. The exercise was carried out in close coordination with IndiGo and critical airport partners. The trial tested the end-to-end synchronisation of systems, processes, and stakeholders by simulating a full aircraft turnaround on the airside.
Why NIA Conducted Test Trials?
Use and validation of vital infrastructure were part of the exercise. Visual docking guidance systems, ground power, passenger boarding bridges, and integrated cargo and luggage processes are all part of this infrastructure, according to the airport officials. The operational readiness framework included the testing of in-flight catering and other ground handling tasks, according to the official release from NIA.
It also included the evaluation of refuelling scenarios. Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach procedures were re-validated as part of the analysis. An advanced ORAT exercise, the turnaround trial is one of several in the series. In preparation for the start of commercial operations on June 15, these drills will ensure that all operational interfaces are working in tandem.

Some Interesting Facts of the Story |
|
1.Flight turnaround trials simulate real
airline operations without carrying commercial passengers. 2.The airport is expected to significantly
boost economic activity in the Noida–Greater Noida–Jewar corridor. 3.IndiGo's strong early presence could make
it the airport's anchor carrier during the initial years of operation |
Air India Express Not Ready to Take Off from NIA
Even though Noida International Airport is all set to go, Air India Express won't be participating in the first launch. News outlets have reported that the low-cost airline controlled by the Tata Group has put its launch at Jewar on perpetual hold.
Reportedly, in the face of financial constraints, the Air India Group is presently concentrating on streamlining its networks and reducing costs. Since the airline currently has a substantial presence at Delhi Airport, the analysis suggests that it may be hesitant to invest in establishing operations at another airport inside the Delhi-NCR market. According to the reports, Air India Express has reduced routes not just to Jewar but also to other services in Delhi. This bodes well for IndiGo's continued dominance at Noida International Airport going forward.
Moreover, media outlets have reported that Air India Express has discontinued flights out of Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport. According to the news, the defence-operated airport has seen a precipitous decline in aircraft traffic during the past few months. As a result of airlines cutting back on operations and the departure of Air India Express, the number of daily aircraft movements handled by Hindon has dropped substantially.
