Nykaa's parent firm, FSN E-Commerce Ventures Limited, hinted on April 6 that it is in talks to acquire a share in skincare brand 82°E. But the business did clarify that they had not struck a final agreement just yet. The firm stated in its exchange filing that it frequently assesses potential development and expansion prospects.

In light of this, the brand has said that it is continuing to talk to the relevant parties, including the one mentioned before (82°E). Additionally, it stated that it will comply with regulatory procedures in disclosing any significant developments. The business made it clear that no regulatory or legal actions are ongoing at this time. Notably, in 2022, actor Deepika Padukone launched her skincare line, 82°E, directly to consumers.

Nykaa on the Expansion Spree

With this new development, Nykaa is showing that it is serious about extending its in-house and partnered brand portfolio. The brand is especially focusing on the rapidly developing personal care and cosmetics industry. In an additional filing, the business also disclosed preliminary results for the fiscal year 2025–2026 (FY26)'s fourth quarter.

They anticipate a year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net revenue of around 20%, which would be the fastest growth rate in the past twelve quarters. Consolidated gross merchandise value (GMV) growth, according to the business, is anticipated to be in the late 20% area. On the other hand, a growth rate of around 30% in NSV (net sales value) is anticipated.

Market Performance of 82°E

After launching as a direct-to-consumer skincare business in late 2022, 82°E has had scaling issues. These challenges were mainly due to worries about premium pricing, positioning, and increased competition from digital-first companies. Regulatory papers show that the brand's income fell 30% year-on-year to INR 14.7 crore in FY25, while losses were INR 12.26 crore. The actor Padukone is already involved with Nykaa; in 2025, she will be named a worldwide brand ambassador for the company.

Further, Padukone will spearhead important projects, including Nykaaland and the Pink Friday Sale. The move is part of a larger trend of consolidation in the direct-to-consumer market, where established businesses are being bought out by up-and-coming ones. Marico invested in Cosmix, USV bought a share in Wellbeing Nutrition, and L'Oréal was in talks to buy Innovist. Honasa Consumer bought out Reginald Men, ITC bought out Yoga Bar, and Marico bought out 4700BC. A previous example of the segment's ongoing tendency toward consolidation was the acquisition of the skincare brand Minimalist by Hindustan Unilever Limited.
