Ola Electric’s Roadster X+ with indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell receives govt certification

Ola Electric announced on 30 December that the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar, has certified its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh), which is powered by an indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, in accordance with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989. With this certification, Ola Electric will start shipping the Roadster X+, which will be the first electric motorcycle in India approved with a 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack that was entirely created in-house.

With an industry-leading range of up to 500 km, the Roadster X+ makes it possible to travel long distances and between cities outside of urban areas. A representative for Ola Electric stated that the Roadster X+'s regulatory certification marks a significant turning point in the company's development of end-to-end EV technology in India.

With the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh), which is powered solely by our own cell and battery technology, the company is providing an unparalleled range together with improved performance, safety, and dependability. This is a crucial step towards increasing the adoption of EVs in India's 2W sector, which is dominated by motorcycles.

Roadster X+ Gone Through Rigorous Testing

According to Ola, the certification follows extensive vehicle-level testing that ensures adherence to safety and regulatory standards announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). These tests include constructional and functional safety, range, gradeability, noise, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and braking performance.

Furthermore, the 9.1 kWh battery pack has been certified by ARAI in accordance with AIS-156 Amendment 4. Water immersion, thermal runaway, fire safety, vibration, and mechanical shocks were among the safety and durability tests it passed. Ola Electric has expanded the 4680 Bharat Cell platform to include all of its two-wheeler products, including motorcycles and scooters like the Ola Shakti.

Ola Electric Launches Hyperservice Centres

Ola Electric, a manufacturer of electric vehicles, announced on 23 December that it is expanding its Hyperservice project by opening dedicated Hyperservice Centres that will provide qualified customers with a free same-day service guarantee. Bengaluru will be the first of the company's existing service facilities to be progressively transformed into Hyperservice Centres as part of the plan. According to the company's BSE filing, the first such centre in Indiranagar is now functioning.

According to the corporation, these facilities are designed to shorten service turnaround times by allowing clients to have their cars serviced the same day without incurring additional costs, all while utilising a fully digital system. According to an Ola representative, the brand is establishing a new standard with Hyperservice Centres—a same-day service guarantee. The newly added quick services will be provided to customers at no additional cost. In order to eliminate friction and provide each Ola customer with a quicker, easier, and more transparent service experience, technology, process change, and scalability are being used.
