OpenAI to Limit Free Sora AI Video Generation, Introduces Paid Plans for Additional Usage

With its AI-generated app Sora, OpenAI will begin charging users to produce further videos. This adjustment has been implemented for all users who surpass the free daily limit, according to a statement made by Sora head Bill Peebles on X.

When more people join the platform in the future, the corporation will also lower the free limit. When users surpass the daily limit, they can purchase 10 extra video generations for $4 (around INR 350). In a single day, you can purchase as many extra tokens as you require. According to Bill Peebles, this modification will enable professional creators to receive as much usage as they desire at a fee.

Daily Limit Set to 30 Video Generation for Free Users

According to Peebles, ChatGPT Pro customers are limited to 100 video productions per day. The daily restriction for all other users, including those on the free plan, is 30 videos. OpenAI, however, intends to lower the free limit shortly. According to Bill Peebles, the company will have to reduce the free gens in order to make room for expansion.

According to the Sora CEO, if the present restriction is maintained and more users join the platform, the company will eventually run out of GPUs. At first glance, it appears that OpenAI will only charge users for producing AI videos. But according to Bill Peebles, the business intends to develop a new Sora economy that will give platform designers a means of making money.

Cameo Mode

Users might eventually be able to charge others for using "Cameos" of characters and individuals, according to Peebles' hint. Users can create videos with other persons who have consented to make cameo appearances by using the Cameo option. Early adopters of the Sora app will be given priority thanks to this feature. According to Bill Peebles, the business will shortly test monetisation, giving preference to users and businesses who joined the network first.

Users now have greater control over how they show up in AI videos thanks to additional limitations that OpenAI has implemented on Cameos on Sora. As of right now, the Sora app is only accessible on iOS; an Android version will follow shortly. Only a few countries, including the US, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, can use the app.
