Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Consumer, the FMCG division of the billionaire, announced on 16 January that it has bought the global rights of multinational brands like Brylcreem, Toni & Guy, and Badedas. On the same day, Reliance Industries also announced its financial results for the quarter that concluded on December 31, 2026.

According to RIL's investor presentation, it also purchased the worldwide rights to Matey, a UK-based speciality brand that specialises in the children's personal care market. Reliance Consumer Products Ltd. (RCPL) has not yet disclosed any financial information on the purchase of these four trademarks' worldwide rights; however, the FMCG division stated that it will grow them in both home and foreign markets. Let us dig in to find out more details of the deal.

Brands and their Dominance in Indian Market

The British company Brylcreem makes hairstyling products for males. In India and around the world, this haircare brand has a sizeable market share. Its offering is directly related to manly hygiene and includes goods for male grooming.

Originally a salon, Toni & Guy is a haircare and styling company that currently sells a range of personal care items. The German company Badedas is well-known for its personal care products, which include a variety of goods enriched with organic plant extracts.

Growing Network of RCPL

On December 1, 2025, RCPL, a direct subsidiary of RIL after deriving from Reliance Retail, purchased Velvette, a personal care brand from Tamil Nadu. It recently resurrected the Velvette brand, which now sells talcum powders, body lotions, shower gels, shampoos, and soaps.

Furthermore, RCPL offers bath soaps and other personal care items under its own brands, Glimmer and Get Real. In late November 2025, RCPL also purchased the bulk of Udhaiyams Agro Foods. With important essentials like rice and pulses as well as a range of food items including snacks and idli batter, the company is well-known in Tamil Nadu. At INR 5,065 crore for the December quarter, RCPL's total gross revenue increased 1.6 times year over year. Its year-to-date gross revenue for FY26 has surpassed INR 15,000 crore, a 1.8-fold increase over the same period in the previous fiscal year.
