Switch Mobility to Supply 840 Electric Buses to Delhi Under PM E-Drive

Antony Road Transport Solutions has placed an order for 840 electric buses with Switch Mobility, a Hinduja Group company, according to a press release dated September 28. As part of the inaugural phase of the PM E-Drive project, which aims to revolutionise innovative vehicle enhancement, the company has been awarded this substantial order.

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department, Delhi, will be receiving 420 AC electric buses measuring 9 metres and the same number of 12-metre buses as part of the deal. The partnership's goal is to facilitate efficient passenger mobility through the implementation of electric buses throughout Delhi's public transport network. According to Switch Mobility, this agreement will help the city achieve its larger sustainable mobility goals.

Switch Mobility to Bring More Sustainability in Capital

Both Switch Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions have officially agreed to the implementation. Consequently, it was stated, this was a major step toward the electrification of the capital's public transport system. This order, according to Ganesh Mani, CEO of Switch Mobility, is evidence of the increasing trust in electric mobility solutions for extensive public transit systems. The company is empowering operators to meet the varied mobility needs of passengers with a fleet that includes both 9-metre and 12-metre electric buses.

Mani elaborated by saying it will also help with the shift to greener, more sustainable transportation. The director of Antony Road Transport Solutions, Jimmy John, explained that the company placed this order because of its longstanding partnership with Ashok Leyland and its confidence in the Hinduja Group. The company is confident that this collaboration will greatly assist the NCR on its path to sustainable mobility, John added.

Features of Switch Mobility’s Buses

Buses of 9 and 12 metres in length are built on the EiV platform developed by SWITCH Mobility. Integral to this architecture are electric powertrains, regenerative braking, and customisable battery options. In an effort to decrease charging turnaround time and increase fleet utilisation, the buses also come with dual-gun fast charging. Low-floor access, USB charging, and chairs are some of the passenger-orientated equipment that the corporation has specified.

Nonetheless, multi-level battery protection and fire detection and suppression systems are standard on buses. For diagnostics, real-time vehicle monitoring, and fleet administration, the buses have SWITCH iON installed. As a result of this order, the public transport authorities in Delhi will be able to deploy electric buses throughout the capital, along with the electric bus manufacturer SWITCH Mobility and the fleet operator Antony Road Transport Solutions.
