Vetic raises in $40 Million in funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners to build human-grade pet healthcare

When Gaurav Ajmera's cat Simba fell ill, what should have been a straightforward medical journey turned into an exhausting odyssey. The beloved pet needed somewhere between twenty-five and thirty visits across five or six different veterinarians just to receive the correct diagnosis. That frustrating experience became the catalyst for something much larger.

Ajmera, who had previously worked at Pristyn Care, OYO, and Schlumberger, and holds both a BTech and MTech from IIT Delhi, channelled his frustration into action. In 2022, he founded Vetic with a simple but ambitious mission: to transform how India cares for its pets.

Building India's Pet Healthcare Ecosystem

Vetic has grown into India's largest and fastest-growing pet healthcare network, integrating more than sixty-five clinics across eleven cities, fifteen round-the-clock emergency facilities, veterinary home services, an e-pharmacy, and pet supplies through a single connected platform.

The company has assembled a network of over two hundred and fifty veterinarians who deliver care across in-clinic OPD services, advanced diagnostics, and complex surgeries. But Vetic's ambitions extend far beyond traditional veterinary clinics.

To meet every pet health need under one roof, the company has expanded into:

  • Vet at home services for convenient care delivery
  • Pet insurance and wellness plans
  • An e-pharmacy delivering over three hundred medicines across more than seven hundred pincodes within sixty minutes
  • Quick commerce for over six hundred pet products

Currently, Vetic serves over sixty thousand subscribed members who have embraced this integrated approach to pet healthcare.

The Technology Behind the Care

What sets Vetic apart is its proprietary operating system that captures longitudinal health records for every pet from their very first visit. This system standardises care protocols across the entire network, ensuring consistent quality regardless of which clinic a pet parent visits.

The company has further leveraged artificial intelligence across multiple touchpoints. This technology enables more efficient triaging of pet parents from the first sign of a symptom, supports veterinarians with diagnostic intelligence, and delivers proactive, personalised guidance through the Vetic app across a pet's entire life journey.

Together, these innovations shift pet healthcare from reactive crisis management to continuous, always-on care.

Fresh Capital to Fuel Expansion

Vetic has announced the close of a $40 million funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Greenoaks Capital, Lachy Groom, and JSW Family Office. Bessemer has been an investor in multiple earlier rounds as well, demonstrating continued confidence in the company's trajectory.

The new funds will be deployed to scale Vetic's clinic network and veterinary team across in-clinic, home, and virtual care to double current capacity. The company also plans to roll out its vet at home services nationally within two quarters, deepen its pet insurance and wellness plan offerings, and invest significantly in technology and AI to make every layer of the pet health journey smarter, more connected, and more proactive.

A Fundamental Shift in How India Treats Pets

The founding insight behind Vetic speaks to a broader cultural transformation in India. As Ajmera explains:

"I started Vetic because of my pet Simba, who didn't receive quality care when he needed it most. Like mine, there are millions of families for whom pets are not 'just animals'. They are companionship during lonely years, emotional support through difficult times, comfort, joy, and family. Pet parents demand human-grade care, yet the systems built around pet care remain fragmented and mediocre."

This fragmentation is precisely what Vetic aims to eliminate. When a pet falls ill, needs diagnostic care, requires predictable medication supply, or has grooming needs, pet parents are typically forced to navigate an unorganised system on their own, keeping them anxious and worried throughout.

Ajmera's vision is clear:

"Vetic is building a connected system where consultations, clinics, medicines, diagnostics, insurance, recovery, and wellness all work together not just to improve efficiency, but to help people care better for the pets they love. Because our pets deserve human-grade care."

Investor Confidence in the Category Leader

Bessemer Venture Partners' decision to lead multiple funding rounds in Vetic reflects their conviction in both the market opportunity and the team's execution capabilities.

Vishal Gupta, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, articulated this perspective:

"Every great consumer category in India needs one operator willing to do the unglamorous work of building high quality supply which scales with consistency. For pet care, that's Vetic. Gaurav and his team have turned a fragmented, doctor-led trade into a genuine consumer healthcare platform, with the unit economics and clinical standards to prove it."

Gupta added that their continued investment stems from a fundamental belief about market dynamics:

"We're continuing to double down on the journey with them because category leaders compound, and Vetic is the category leader in this space. We're excited to see what comes next."

The Road Ahead

Vetic's journey from a founder's personal frustration to India's leading pet healthcare platform illustrates both the opportunity in the sector and the challenges of building integrated healthcare infrastructure from the ground up.

As pet ownership continues to grow in India and pet parents increasingly demand sophisticated care options, Vetic appears positioned to capture this evolving market. The combination of physical infrastructure, technology, and a comprehensive service offering creates a model that addresses the fundamental pain point Ajmera experienced with Simba: the anxiety of navigating a fragmented system when a beloved family member needs care.

For millions of Indian pet parents, the promise is compelling—a single platform where every aspect of their pet's health is connected, proactive, and accessible. Whether Vetic can deliver on that promise at scale will determine if India's pets truly receive the human-grade care their families believe they deserve.
