US-Based VideoDB Acquires Indian AI Software Testing Platform Devzery

San Francisco-based VideoDB, an AI-native video infrastructure platform, has acquired Devzery, a Chennai-based developer tooling startup that builds AI-powered regression testing workflows.

Through this acquisition, VideoDB aims to enhance its focus on developer experience and product reliability, particularly as it scales across video-intensive AI use cases such as surveillance, model training, and real-time media editing.

Founded in 2021, Devzery began with a simple premise: fast-moving engineering teams shouldn’t have to write or maintain test code. Its AI agent for API regression testing integrates seamlessly with CI/CD pipelines. Over the past year, Devzery’s solution has been adopted by organisations such as Cimpress, Shopflo, and Zeda.io. The company had previously raised $125,000 in funding from Upekkha to accelerate product development and growth.

“We didn’t build Devzery to get acquired. We built it because backend testing is broken for fast-moving product teams,” said Hemnaa Subburaj, Co-founder of Devzery.
She further added, “Devzery’s core focus on codeless, AI-driven regression testing pairs naturally with VideoDB’s mission to make video programmable and searchable in real time. As one team, we are now positioned to build something developers haven't seen before: reliable, intelligent tooling across video and backend infrastructure. Joining VideoDB means we get to bring that simplicity to an entirely new domain, programmable video infra.”

Launched in 2023, VideoDB is building the video-as-data stack for the agentic web, a new frontier where video becomes programmable, searchable, and fully machine learning-integrated. The platform enables teams to query live streams, tag footage automatically, and develop products directly on top of video pipelines.

By integrating Devzery’s AI regression testing engine into its platform, VideoDB aims to deliver a more robust, enterprise-ready infrastructure for developers building video-based products.

“We think of VideoDB as the video layer of AWS, abstracted, reliable, developer-first. Devzery shares that same DNA. This is more than an acquisition for us. It’s about doubling down on developer-first infrastructure and setting a new standard for how teams work with video and APIs at scale. Their testing engine makes our stack more robust and gives our customers the confidence to ship faster, support enterprise-grade use cases, and bring new categories of automation to the VideoDB ecosystem,” said Ashutosh Trivedi, Co-founder of VideoDB.

Backed by early-stage angels and operators in developer infrastructure and AI tooling, this marks VideoDB’s first strategic acquisition. As part of the transition, Devzery’s founders will join the VideoDB team, while its product line will continue operating under VideoDB’s resources and reach, helping expand its footprint in the United States market.
