WhatsApp introduces missed call messages, fun status stickers and new AI-powered features

Ahead of the holidays, WhatsApp has revealed a new set of capabilities that will improve the speed, fluidity, and expressiveness of its discussions for its user base worldwide. These improvements will be available in calls, chats, and status updates. One of the most significant features, according to a blog post by the messaging service, is the ability for users to promptly leave a voice or video message when a call remains unanswered.

The feature, which varies based on the sort of call, is meant to take the role of standard voicemail and make catching up easier over the hectic holiday season. Additionally, WhatsApp is improving voice calls with real-time reactions, enabling users to give brief acknowledgements—like a joyous "cheers"—without interfering with the conversation. To make it easier for users to follow conversations during group video chats, a new speaker spotlight feature will now automatically highlight the active speaker.

An AI Touch to Enhance User Experience

The platform's integration of new picture-generating models from Flux and Midjourney represents a significant advancement in AI capabilities. Now, when users use Meta AI on WhatsApp to create unique photos, such as holiday greetings, the quality will be noticeably better.

AI-powered picture animation, which can transform any static image into a little film for sharing in conversations or on status updates, is another noteworthy improvement. WhatsApp is launching a new media tab on the desktop that will make it simpler for Mac, Windows, and Web users to locate and manage files by combining all media, documents, and links from conversations. In order to lessen the clutter caused by lengthy URLs, the program has also improved link previews.

Additional Features for Other Activities

WhatsApp is introducing new stickers for Status that include question prompts, interactive designs, and song lyric templates in an effort to increase user interaction. Viewers can now directly reply to questions that users put on their status. Furthermore, channel administrators can now ask followers questions in real time, providing broadcasters with additional means of communication and feedback collection. As users prepare for one of the busiest communication seasons of the year, WhatsApp keeps growing its messaging ecosystem with new enhancements.
