WhatsApp launches official App for Apple Watch users

On 4 November, WhatsApp released a companion app for the Apple Watch that lets users send, receive, and record voice conversations without using their iPhone. This new experience will allow users to keep on top of their talks without having to take out their iPhone, the business stated in a blog post. WhatsApp for the Apple Watch will now enable numerous requested capabilities for the first time, in addition to reading and replying to messages.

Features of WhatsApp Apple

According to WhatsApp, users will be able to record and transmit voice messages directly from their wrist, view call notifications, and read entire conversations—even the lengthy ones. Like with the full-featured iPhone app, users will also be able to respond to messages with emojis. Additionally, users will be able to view crisper photographs and stickers on their Apple Watch, according to the Meta-owned app.

Furthermore, users will be able to view the other person's chat history directly on the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch companion app will keep all calls and messages end-to-end encrypted, much like WhatsApp's phone app and web version. Users must have an Apple Watch Series 4 or later model running watchOS 10 or later in order to utilise the new WhatsApp Apple Watch app.

WhatsApp Much Awaited Move For Apple Users

Although the announcement that WhatsApp will release an app for the Apple Watch is unexpected, it is not wholly out of the ordinary considering the company's growing attention to the Apple ecosystem this year. The long-awaited iPad app for WhatsApp was eventually released earlier this year, eliminating the need for users to keep using the web version of the personal messaging service.

Earlier this year, Snapchat, WhatsApp's competitor, released an app for the Apple Watch that lets users send audio notes, type messages, and receive notifications on their watch. However, compared to the WhatsApp app, the Snapchat app is less functional; it can't view Snaps or images and has a smaller chat history. Important capabilities like audio or video calls, the ability to start new chats, and the ability to read status updates are also absent from the WhatsApp app.
