Analogue dairy dishes, such as those created with imitation paneer, are no longer allowed on Zomato. According to the corporation, they will not budge from their zero-tolerance stance on the selling of foods that use substitute dairy products. Also, these kinds of listings that restaurant partners have reported have previously been removed by the brand.

Analogue paneer and other dairy alternatives are coming under increasing scrutiny in India, prompting this approach. The manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, and retail sale of counterfeit paneer have been outlawed in multiple Indian states. These include Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

Zomato’s New Zero-Tolerance Policy

Dishes that restaurant partners have reported as having analogue dairy in them have been immediately removed from the Zomato site, according to a statement. Zomato claims that the policy's stated goals are the promotion of more openness in meal listings and the safeguarding of consumer interests. The restaurant partners are being asked to comply immediately by implementing the rigorous measures. Natural dairy products should be the norm in restaurants.

They also make note of taking items off the menu that include imitation dairy products if they are unable to make the switch right away. In order to confirm the ingredients used and make sure the menu items shown on Zomato are accurate, Zomato also asked restaurants to check the labels and ingredient declarations given by suppliers. The business has threatened to remove off the platform any eatery that continues to sell analogue dairy products without meeting these standards.

Difference Between Natural and Analogue Paneer

In contrast to the milk used to make real paneer, a combination of vegetable oils, starches, emulsifiers, and other ingredients is typically used to make imitation paneer. The goal of processing these substances is to make them look, feel, and work just like paneer made from dairy. Despite its superficial similarities to traditional paneer, imitation paneer is not a dairy product and has a very different chemical make-up.

Zomato CEO Aditya Mangla commented on the move by saying that protecting customer health is fundamental to the company's objective of providing better cuisine to more people. Moreover, he elaborated by saying that the company has strict guidelines about the items that its partner restaurants can and cannot sell. "This policy reflects that commitment, one we're taking together with partners who share it," Magla continued.

Zomato Announces 250 Job Cuts

Reportedly, 250 workers have lost their jobs at food delivery giant Zomato as part of the company's most recent round of labour cuts. Layoffs are the result of an analysis of the business's operational model for client satisfaction and organisational needs. Zomato has chosen to end its Customer Delight operations in Hyderabad as a component of the reorganisation.

The company has also moved all of its remaining in-house functions to a single Gurgaon site. About 240 employees in Hyderabad will be impacted by the changes. The organisation asserted that the decision was precipitated by modifications to its customer support model, rather than employee performance. The company announced its decision to restructure its operations and reduce team size.
