Anthropic Strengthens India Presence, Brings Claude AI to More Users

As part of its growth in India, Anthropic has announced that local in-country inference will provide organisations in the nation access to its AI agent Claude. Through Amazon Bedrock, Claude will soon be available in India with in-country inference, according to a release from Anthropic.

One of AWS's offerings, Amazon Bedrock allows users to construct large-scale generative AI applications and agents. Requests routed via the India endpoint are now handled by servers located in India. Banks, insurers, and public and government institutions are just a few of the many verticals that Indian businesses may confidently service because to in-country inference.

Anthropic’s In-Country Interface & its Importance

The supervision to match is also included with Anthropic's in-country inference. Before anything goes live in production, Claude deployments using Amazon Bedrock include the audit trails and access restrictions that risk and compliance teams need. According to Irina Ghose, Managing Director of Anthopic India, the introduction of Claude inference to the Indian market marks a watershed moment for corporate artificial intelligence in the nation.

According to Ghose, a billion people's data is handled by public and government institutions, banks, insurers, and telecoms in India. Artificial intelligence will go from pilots to critical systems once that data can remain in India. With the addition of in-country inference, the firm has made great strides in its current initiatives, which include developing a local staff, improving the firm's performance in Indian languages, and expanding its teams across the country. Anthopic inaugurated its Bengaluru office in February.

India was among the world's highest registration numbers when Anthropic introduced the Claude Partner Network internationally in March 2026. There has been a recent uptick in the proportion of Indian partners holding the Global Premier, Preferred, or Select levels of the organisation, relationships that enable India to utilise this technology.

Growing Network of Anthropic in India

Now, Anthropic collaborates with groups that are fighting some of India's most pressing issues. State governments, public health programs, and agencies that serve citizens directly often form partnerships with the most promising public-impact opportunities. These partnerships often involve sensitive personal data that cannot be exported, which is why in-country inference allows for more in-depth research within the country.

Research groups in India, such as the Evolutionary Venomics Lab led by Kartik Sunagar at the Indian Institute of Science, are eligible to get free API credits through the company's AI for Science program. In order to combat a problem that kills some 58,000 people annually, the institution employs Claude and PopVax to identify potential antivenom targets. Proteins for vaccines against tuberculosis, hepatitis C, and Strep A are created by PopVax using Claude. A company-wide effort to increase Claude’s performance in India’s most widely spoken languages is part of Anthropic’s consistent development six months after signing the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments.
