Cars24 Acquires CarInfo to Simplify Vehicle Ownership Services

Used-car marketplace Cars24 has taken a major step to broaden its services with the acquisition of CarInfo, a vehicle information and management platform. The deal was announced in early January 2026 and marks Cars24’s second big purchase in under a year.

The exact financial terms have not been officially confirmed by Cars24. However, The Economic Times reports the deal could be worth around INR 400-425 crore in a mix of cash and stock.

This move pushes Cars24 further into the everyday life of vehicle owners. The company wants to go beyond just buying and selling cars and bikes and offer useful services throughout the lifetime of a vehicle.

What CarInfo Does and Why It Matters

CarInfo is a platform that collects and presents key details about vehicles. It helps users check important information such as:

  • Registration details
  • Insurance and pollution certificate status
  • FASTag status
  • Traffic challans and other compliance records

CarInfo also runs a related app called BikeInfo, which offers similar services for two-wheelers.

These details are often scattered across multiple government systems and can be difficult for vehicle owners to access. Cars24 says bringing this information into one place will reduce routine hassles.

Cars24’s founder and CEO Vikram Chopra explained that many vehicle problems start with small oversights, like an expired insurance policy or a missing document. Platforms like CarInfo aim to make this information easy to find and understand.

CarInfo reportedly serves more than 12 million active users every month, demonstrating its wide use among vehicle owners.

Standalone Apps and Cars24’s Vision for a Super App

As part of the agreement, CarInfo and BikeInfo will remain standalone apps within the Cars24 ecosystem. Both will continue to operate with their existing teams.

Cars24’s strategy appears to be building a one-stop platform for vehicle owners. In 2024, the company launched what it calls a superapp. This single app brings together services like:

  • Repairs and servicing
  • Financing and loans
  • Chauffeur bookings
  • Service history records

The acquisition of CarInfo fits neatly into this vision. It adds important day-to-day services that go beyond the once-in-a-few-years act of buying or selling a vehicle.

Future of Vehicle Services in India: Cars24’s Growth Strategy

Cars24 has strong backing from major investors, including SoftBank, Alpha Wave Global, and others. The company is also preparing for a possible public listing in the coming years.

The broader used-vehicle and automotive services sector is seeing consolidation. For example, competitor Spinny recently acquired the car-servicing network GoMechanic in a similar expansion effort.

With the CarInfo acquisition, Cars24 aims to deepen customer engagement and make its platform more useful for everyday vehicle management. This could help it stand out in a crowded market and build more frequent interactions with users.
