Deepinder Goyal Unveils Temple, Claims World’s Smallest Wearable Launch by the End of 2026
Deepinder Goyal’s Temple wearable is expected to be commercially launched by the end of 2026. The business claims their product to be the smallest wearable in the world by volume. The device is designed to measure brain function, tracking cerebral blood flow and other data.
Temple, developed by Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal, is about to transition from an experimental device to a commercially available product. The creator of Zomato and Eternal has come clean about the fact that the newest iteration of Temple is now significantly smaller than the device he displayed earlier.
Additionally, he mentioned that the limited launch edition will soon be available for pre-order. By volume, Temple has surpassed all other wearables on the market, according to Goyal, who also claims it is the "most powerful" version to date. Before the end of 2026, the device will begin shipping according to the company's plans.
Operations of Temple
Rather than focusing on basic metrics like heart rate, steps, and movement like a traditional smartwatch or fitness band would, Temple is engineered to take a more in-depth look into what's going on in the brain. The purpose of the wearable device is to monitor brain activity by collecting data on cerebral blood flow in real-time and other related signals. Oxygenation, cognitive stress, and entropy measures are all part of the data set.
Consequently, providing a visual representation of the user's brain and body responses during various activities. Athletes may find Temple especially appealing because of that. By analysing brain signals, this kind of device might reveal more than just a person's training intensity. It could also reveal athletes' levels of exhaustion, recovery, focus, and sleep. Compared to the typical fitness tracker, the concept is completely novel. Essentially, Temple is aiming to create a tiny wearable that can be utilised in daily activities to collect some of the parameters that researchers investigate in controlled situations.
Temple Targets $500 Million Valuation
Temple is seeking new funding at a valuation of approximately $500 million. Nevertheless, it has set the price of its first wearable gadget at around INR 80,000. The pricing is still preliminary and will encompass everlasting access to Temple's software platform.
A lifetime supply of the adhesive tapes needed to secure the pebble-shaped gadget to the side of the forehead will also be included with the purchase. Temple is taking a chance that the area around the temples provides a more comprehensive source of physiological data than smartwatches and rings that take signals from the fingers or wrists.
Earlier this year, Temple was valued at about $190 million and raised $54 million. Within a matter of months, the startup's valuation would have more than doubled if the planned investment round were to close at $500 million. With an eye toward a more widespread commercial launch, the firm has been increasing both its workforce size and its product development initiatives. The business has joined an increasing number of businesses this year that have given liquidity to their employees by launching their first ESOP liquidity programme.
