dubdub Raises $1.3M Seed to Turn the Feed Into a Quiz

The founders sold Aldun in January and launched dubdub two months later. The seed backs a trivia app with 20,000 downloads, a retention claim without a number and no stated revenue model.

dubdub co-founders Supan Shah and Kaustubh Priye

dubdub, a trivia app launched in March, has raised $1.3 million on 20,000 downloads.

The equity seed round was co-led by 3one4 Capital, Antler and Stellaris Venture Partners. dubdub replaces the scrolling feed with a stack of questions and mini games: each swipe asks the user to answer, guess, solve, recognise, predict or compete, across more than 20 categories including cricket, Bollywood and mythology. The money goes into hiring in product and engineering, new interactive formats and a more personalised feed.

Two months between selling Aldun and launching dubdub

Two months separate the sale of one company from the launch of the other.

Kaustubh Priye, the chief executive, and CPTO Supan Shah have built a company together before. Aldun automated hospital discharge, letting patients leave within about ten minutes of final billing instead of waiting hours, and worked with hospital groups such as Apollo, Aster and Manipal. Care.fi acquired it on 21 January 2026 on undisclosed terms, when Aldun had disclosed about $0.4 million in funding. dubdub launched in March. The founders say they bring more than 30 years of combined experience from Flipkart, Udaan and OnMobile. The move from hospital billing software to a consumer quiz app is a long one, and the pitch rests on product skill rather than domain knowledge.

Retention is the claim, and it comes without a number

The company says early retention is above the top percentile of casual games, but it has not published a retention rate, a benchmark or the period it measures. Twenty thousand downloads in about seven months is a small base for a statement like that. "Having built and sold a company before, we know retention is the clearest signal that a product is working," Priye said. Revenue model and team size have not been disclosed either.

A casual-games bet after the money-games ban

India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act came into force on 1 October 2025 and bans online money games, whether they rely on skill or chance. Zupee and Mobile Premier League said they would end their real-money games and keep casual, free-to-play titles running. dubdub launched five months later. How it plans to earn revenue, and whether it offers prizes, has not been disclosed.

Another Indian casual-games company also raised this month, for a different audience. Bengaluru's Spill Games raised $10.5 million in a Series A led by Elevation Capital, after a $3.1 million seed in April. Spill makes casual and puzzle games for players outside India and earns from ads and in-app purchases. dubdub is aimed at Indian users and Indian interests such as cricket and Bollywood.

Three early-stage funds behind the round

3one4 Capital closed a $200 million fourth fund in 2023 and is raising a fifth with a $225 million target. Stellaris Venture Partners closed a $300 million third fund, and Antler India's maiden pre-seed fund was sized at about $75 million. "AI has reset the economics of the category," said Akshay Sharma, principal at 3one4, adding that content can now be created, tested and personalised in days rather than months. Rajiv Srivatsa, founding partner at Antler, said the next shift in consumer media will be from passive scrolling to active participation. How the round splits among the three leads has not been disclosed.

I think the cost claim is the one to test. Trivia only holds players while the questions stay fresh and correct, so the question for dubdub is how it checks the accuracy of AI-written content as it scales.
