AI agents that can shop for things and acquire gold are being released by the digital payments platform Super.money, which is owned by Flipkart. This is a gamble on the technology's ability to set it apart from more established competitors.

The chief executive officer of the fintech, Prakash Sikaria, stated in an interview that the company intends to cover all of its customers within the next two months and has started rolling out its consumer agents. With an initial focus on agentic shopping on Flipkart, Super.money will enable customers to buy gold when prices drop to levels they specify. The platform has over 20 million active users each month.

How Super.money’s AI Agent will Operate?

In the long run, Super. Money plans to expand its online purchasing agents outside Flipkart and anticipates that the AI aids will manage investments and bill payments, giving consumers the option to delegate operations. This move is in line with a larger plan to increase sales through the use of agents to spur more rapid product innovation. India is a value-conscious country, according to Sikaria; therefore, it thinks agents that focus on pricing or value will be successful.

In essence, these are payment agents that are developed in collaboration with merchants. Customers will not pay for the first agents, but the company will discover ways to monetise them, such as through subscription services, as their use increases. This year, Super.money anticipates allocating around 20% of its technical budget into the development and expansion of consumer agents. According to Sikaria, once the model is operational, the company can expect 30% to 40% of its revenue to come from agentic use cases in three to four years.

Flipkart Expands into Food Delivery

Flipkart is testing its food-delivery service 'Eat In' with employees in Bengaluru as part of its push into new categories of commerce. Nevertheless, Flipkart Minutes, its quick-commerce venture, will soon launch as an independent app.

Prior to a possible public debut in Bengaluru, the business intends to roll out 'Eat In' to a broader staff base around September 15. In addition, the Minutes app is now available to a select few customers, but it will likely be available to everyone in the lead-up to Flipkart's Big Billion Days event in October.

Flipkart is making these changes in an effort to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding food delivery and fast commerce markets. Zomato, Swiggy, and Rapido are just a few of the well-established competitors it must contend with. Ownly, Rapido's meal delivery service, launched in Bengaluru earlier this year. A zero-commission model is used by the platform. A group of logistics partners who make money by delivering goods on the platform handle the delivery process.
