A deal was announced on August 24th by the Godrej Industries group and the government of Haryana to spend INR 20,000 crore in the northern state. Consequently, increasing its footprint in the area. The group and the state government have signed an MOU, and the investment is anticipated to generate approximately 40,000 job opportunities.

Godrej Industries Group, a conglomerate involved in consumer goods, real estate, and financial services, has employed over 9,000 individuals in Haryana and has invested approximately INR 12,000 crore in the state thus far. The company made $7.2 billion in the fiscal year 2026.

How Godrej will Execute Expansion in Haryana?

An important component of the investment would come from the group's realty subsidiary, Godrej Properties (GP). In addition, by fiscal year 2028, GP intends to invest an additional INR 16,000 crore in the state of Haryana. That brings its overall investment in the state to about INR 27,000 crore. Another INR 3,500 crore is planned to be invested in Gurugram office infrastructure by Godrej Ventures, the group's real estate private equity division.

More than 30,000 direct and indirect employments are anticipated to be generated by the proposed investment, according to the statement. According to Godrej Industries Group Chairperson Pirojsha Godrej, Haryana has become a key growth engine. Pirojsha elaborated by saying that the group views the area as a market with long-term investment potential.

Haryana Emerges as the Preferred State for Godrej

“The MoU reaffirmed the group’s confidence in Haryana as a long-term investment destination,” said Rakesh Swami, Group Head and President-Corporate Affairs. The Godrej Group is opening up new possibilities in this state's infrastructure, services, residential and commercial development, and more. The group's holdings in the state extend beyond the real estate industry. Godrej Capital's financing division has enabled bookings totalling around INR 550 crore, and the company runs five branches.

Nevertheless, there are over 250 rural stockists and 42 direct distributors for Godrej Consumer Products. Approximately INR 1 crore goes into corporate social responsibility projects each year, while over INR 10 crore goes toward infrastructure projects in Haryana. In order to back development initiatives and facilitate additional investments, the Group has stated that it will keep cooperating with the state government.

Haryana Unveils New Industrial Policy

The 'Make in Haryana' Industrial Policy, an ambitious undertaking, has been unveiled by the Haryana government. Subsequently, targeting the generation of 10 lakh jobs and the attraction of INR 5 lakh Cr in investments. The move is part of the state's strategy to become a centre for global capability centres (GCCs), data centres, new technology, and future-ready manufacturing.

This strategy was one of ten new policies targeted at specific industries that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled today. Electric automobiles and semiconductors, as well as renewable energy initiatives, green hydrogen, textiles and clothes, automobile components, footwear, and recycling of electronic trash are all encompassed by these rules. Data centres, global supply chains, electronics, emerging markets, and advanced manufacturing are some of the next-generation businesses that the strategy aims to support.
