Google Expands Gemini and Search With New AI Tools for Students

Google is enhancing Gemini and Search with AI-powered learning tools to make it easier for students to study. New features include interactive simulations, customised practice tests, Lens-based learning, study materials created from PDFs and more.

Several new learning elements are being integrated directly into Google Search and Gemini by Google. Using AI, students may now build simulations and images that interact with the subject matter they are studying. For example, an interactive visual that further clarifies the concept can be generated by conducting a search for the pH scale.

When a learner wants to know more about anything specific, like the weight of citrus fruits, they can ask a follow-up inquiry, and AI Mode will create an experience just for them. Additionally, search can generate personalised practice tests. Students have the option to ask questions in a variety of subjects, such as math, science, the arts, and foreign languages. They can even customise the questions to help them prepare for specific examinations or review specific material.

Google Bringing Whole New Learning Experience to Students

A new lens-based learning experience is also in the works at Google. Students will soon be able to capture an issue using the Google app's Lens camera, thanks to an upcoming update. The AI may then break down the fundamental idea, highlight any blunders, and provide assistance to those who are struggling. As an additional resource, students can refer to their own course materials. To build study materials, students can upload PDFs, documents, slides, and photos of handwritten notes, and Search will process them.

For instance, by integrating their handwritten notes with the lecture slides, a student could create a concise one-page overview of the main ideas. Along with Gemini, Google is enhancing it with other learning and research capabilities. In the background, Gemini Live can conduct multi-step research on a topic. Ask Gemini to look into something, then step away from the discussion until he or she is through. Once the report is complete, Google will notify the user through notification. Following that, they can use their voice to discuss the findings or ask follow-up questions.

Loaded Features of Gemini

The capacity to create fully functional 3D models is also being acquired by Gemini. One example is the incorporation of interactive models into these experiences. These allow users to pan and zoom, providing a more visual approach to exploring specific topics. A DNA structure that the user may interact with can be generated, for instance, by requesting Gemini to show DNA in three dimensions. A specialised learning centre inside the Gemini app is also being introduced by Google.

This study tool will consolidate multiple study tools into one, such as study notes, flashcards, and practice exams. These updates show that Google is serious in making Gemini and Search more than just search engines. On the other hand, the incorporation of these features will bring the business into direct rivalry with AI services that cater to the educational sector. Nevertheless, the expansion is also being accompanied by apprehensions regarding the manner in which younger users interact with generative AI.
