Why Hyundai Increasing its Women Workforce?
Women are making strides in the firm's manufacturing, engineering, R&D, sales, service, corporate activities, and leadership positions, according to the corporation. Hyundai is of the belief that by attracting a more diverse pool of personnel, the company may benefit from increased creativity, teamwork, and sustainability. Hyundai Motor India's managing director and managing director Tarun Garg stated that the company's belief is that strengthening teams, driving innovation, and building a more resilient organisation are best achieved by bringing together individuals with various experiences, viewpoints, and abilities.
He further stated that the 20% target is indicative of the organisation's dedication to fostering an environment in which employees can achieve their maximum potential, strengthening its talent pipeline, and expanding opportunities. Recruiting, developing, and maintaining talent is the focus of Hyundai Motor India's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion framework, which supports the company's long-term personnel strategy.
In addition, it is in line with enhancing chances for advancement and leadership in one's work. Gender parity in recruiting across departments, increased campus recruitment, competency-based evaluations of candidates, and a push to increase diversity in leadership roles are all part of the company's diversity hiring objectives.
Hyundai’s Various Initiatives to Support Women
In addition to increased participation in leadership, development, and learning programmes, Hyundai reported a 23% increase in the percentage of women promoting from within in FY26. The Women @ Work 2.0 initiative offers a range of benefits to its employees. These benefits include support for parents and new mothers, help with childcare costs, more workplace flexibility, protections to ensure continuous performance, and programmes to engage and reintegrate employees. Through mentoring, skill development, career acceleration, and leadership readiness programmes, it seeks to cultivate women professionals with great potential as part of its TrailblazHER Leadership Initiative.
The infrastructure of the workplace and the welfare of employees are also part of the company's inclusion plan. Hyundai claims to have crèche facilities in its production plants, in addition to wellness and relaxation rooms, mobility help, increased safety measures, and other amenities that aim to create a more supportive work environment. Healthcare support services, stress management, cancer screenings, programmes to raise awareness about women's health, and preventative healthcare are all part of its wellness and health activities. Gender equality (SDG 5) and decent work and economic growth (SDG 8) are two of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that Hyundai claims these initiatives help. The organisation holds the belief that a more diverse pool of candidates can improve competitiveness and contribute to long-term prosperity.
