Nvidia India Staff Get Stock Grants Up to INR 1 Crore from CEO in Major Reward Move
A one-time special stock award ranging from above Rs 5 lakh to as much as INR 1 crore was distributed to the bulk of Nvidia's employees based in India by CEO Jensen Huang. In 2024, the so-called "Jensen Special Grant" was launched, adding another layer of equity remuneration for employees at the worldwide leader in artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
This move further solidifies the increasing importance of stock-based compensation in India's labour market for technology professionals. Employees who qualify receive 25% more restricted stock units (RSUs) than they originally received as a grant. The award is structured as a one-time payment that becomes fully vested four years later, in 2028. The structure guarantees long-term retention and links dividends to Nvidia's global share performance. It begins with an initial vesting of 6.25% and continues with quarterly payouts until completion in 2028.
Nvidia’s Employees and their Stock Structures
Nvidia India's mid-to senior-level engineering positions, according to industry data, can have stock-based remuneration making up 50% to 75% of total income. Top engineers allegedly make between INR 2 and 3 crore each year in total compensation. However, senior technical personnel in AI engineering and chip design apparently receive substantially greater packages. According to the data, the highest-paid group consists of IC6-level engineers.
Their average remuneration is around INR 1.8 crore, and the top earners approach INR 1.9 crore. A more widespread shift in tech hiring is being reflected in the Nvidia India compensation structure, where wealth creation for high-skill roles is being driven more and more by long-term equity rewards. The continued prominence of stock-linked remuneration in IT compensation plans around the world is predicted to be driven by the increasing demand for artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
Nvidia Expanding it India’s Network
An additional investment in artificial intelligence in India is being considered by Nvidia. The semiconductor manufacturer had earlier announced a $1 billion investment to build one of the biggest DGX Cloud clusters in the Asia Pacific region inside Yotta's HGX B300 Blackwell Ultra supercluster. Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang has stated that artificial intelligence is causing the greatest infrastructure buildout in human history, one that will affect every industry and nation.
Huang added that in an audacious plan, India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, wants to make his country a centre for digital infrastructure and make artificial intelligence accessible to people in the global south. In a joint effort with L&T, an 88-year-old engineering and nation-building giant, Nvidia is constructing a first-rate AI network that will fuel India's economic development and bring the country's AI goals to fruition.
