Zoho Announces Two-Week Work-From-Home for Employees Starting March 16
Starting on March 16, the majority of staff at software startup Zoho Corporation have been requested to work remotely for two weeks. Reasons given for this action include operational concerns and the need to reduce employee commute time. All employees, with the exception of those engaged in mission-critical operations, would be subject to the temporary measure, according to the technology firm based in Chennai. During this time, employees in critical operational teams are asked to organise their work-from-office schedules with their supervisors.
Why Zoho Opted for Such Arrangements?
Based on operational needs, Zoho stated that a small number of employees might still need to work from the company's premises. A restricted menu will be available in the office cafeterias for individuals who need to be physically present, according to the corporation. Because of this, it reflects the operational limitations that impact workplace services.
The organisation also mentioned that staff will receive further updates as the situation progresses. The corporation is taking precautions by adjusting office operations during this current situation, and the two-week remote work arrangement is a reflection of that. The goal of Zoho's remote work policy is to ensure business continuity, minimise operational disruptions, and cut down on daily commutes, according to the company. Zoho has been tight-lipped about how many workers will be impacted by the regulatory change.
Tech Firms Now Reorganising their Operations
Hybrid and flexible work arrangements are becoming more common in India's IT enterprises. Operational challenges and changing staff expectations are thought to have prompted this change. Companies can keep productivity high while they adjust to logistical issues with office facilities or staff commuting by implementing temporary remote work policies. According to Zoho, they will keep an eye on things and give them more instructions if they need them.
This is more of a cautious operational adjustment than a policy change at this time; the corporation is temporarily allowing employees to work remotely. Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas established Zoho in 1996, and since then, it has evolved into a major privately held software company in India. The company creates a broad variety of enterprise software, including accounting, workplace collaboration, customer relationship management, and cloud-based business apps. Reuters reports that Zoho has been increasingly self-sufficient in its funding as it has grown swiftly over the past few years. So, it is setting itself up to compete with the world's leading vendors of enterprise software.
